Hypothetically speaking do you think the likes of Euromillions would be better if instead of one prize of £150m it was 150 prizes of £1m?

It takes several weeks of no win rollovers to even get to the 150 million pot in the first place so changing the rules to get 150 £1 million winners would either mean the changing the raffle thing to guarantee 150 winners or changing it to “six numbers wins you the million” which feels like you spent all your luck to win “only” a million compared to the UK Lotto. There’s always going to be people not happy with “just a million”.

It’s strange to think that my song taste was shaped by whatever company paid the most to have their song played on Radio 1 when I was a teen in the mid 00’s. Now I want to deliberately keep going back to that era when I look up songs.

It might be more than the caffeine and probably the amount of sugar you consumed in the drink as well. Might just be a sugar crash you’re experiencing. That said, I also had the same experience where drinking Red Bull or the Starbucks Double Espresso canned drink would also result in me talking to someone and literally in the middle of the conversation I was asked if I was okay because I looked sleepy.

Should I go to the GP for my cough?

Posted by maxwolf_e@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 30 comments

syrupdash@reddit

Early this year, the chest giving me massive pain after coughing for 3 weeks was when I went to A&E and I got prescribed stronger painkillers for that before making an emergency GP appointment the next morning. It was a chest infection and they prescribed antibiotics afterwards. Here’s a question, what will you do if you AREN’T better after three weeks? At least if you make the GP appointment, and you immediately feel better the next week, you can cancel it.

I had white shirt and black trousers for my seasonal Tesco interview but got away with trainers.  When I did the job interview 10 years ago, they threw us into the deep end and took us to the self check out section to observe how we dealt with the customers which mostly just involves standing around and saying, “good morning, did you find what you were looking for?”

DVDs are still magic to me. An entire box set of a 12 episode series can fit in the size of the VHS case WITH deleted scenes and bonus features if the company makes an effort and uses the dual layer DVD. Also no more rewinding the tape to the beginning.

My family watches a lot of movies but going from VHS to DVD was a “this is the future” moment. No more rewinding tapes. Instant jump to the scene you want. Extra contents and deleted scenes all on a disc. All this on a DVD player the size of a Walkman CD player that was gifted to us from a relative who went to Hong Kong which probably cost a lot back then.

I had a job that started at 2pm so as a result, I watched Bargain Hunt as background noise as I ate lunch. One of the episode that stuck in my mind was a manchild going all giddy about seeing a 1980's Motorola brick phone and the expert saying that it won't make any money at the auction they're going to. Dude just fucking threw a strop over not being able to buy the phone. Later in the episode, the expert decides to buy the same phone as a bonus buy... and the contestant says, "nah, I didn't even want it". No-one ever fucking wins at Bargain Hunt. It's always £2 profit followed by £50 losses every time.

A Japanese Famicom game from a market stall in Hong Kong. Too few lifeboats because they assumed that another ship would be nearby so the lifeboats would just be used to ferry the passengers onto the rescue ship. And the nearest ship ignored the Titanic distress signal because the radio operator just shut their station off to go to bed.
