Alright lad its half the box is full of donner meat then you get a lamb skewer, chicken kebab, rump steak peices, chips, salad, 3 sauce pots, 2 pitta breads and 2 cans of pop
So this is why mixed kebabs are extortionate these days? As they are coming so big?
My usual kebab shop does a mixed special (lamb doner, chicken doner, kofte, and shish) for £12 regular or £15 large. And all I'm getting for that is the meats & 1 pitta in a normal kebab box, salad in a separate tin thing, and 2 sauces. Yours sounds like great value and a meal for 2
The other ones near me that do a mixed special are all like £25, so I reckon it must be more like yours to justify the extra cost. I know it's not quality at least on the lamb doner, as I've had one from each and all the shops charge about the same as each other for one of those
Used to be able to get a large lamb shish in Tooting with extra pickled chillies for < £10… best kebab place I ever did see. Two skewers full. Great big chunks of deliciously marinaded lamb. Ask for “all salad” and they could barely close the box. Two minutes walk from the flat, too. Sometimes I miss London. Not often, mind you.
I accidentally ordered one of these once not realising the size of it. It was just listed on Just Eat as a mix kebab so I was expecting a standard one-naan affair. it took me two sittings to finish. Worth every penny. Annoyingly I've not found it on my order history and I can't remember where I got it so all I have to remember it is a few photos.

I once went to a hotel where the buffet breakfast included a mini-doner-machine where you could slice strips of doner meat yourself. It was, needless to say, the finest breakfast I have ever had, and will likely remain the finest I will ever have.
I wanted to say something about the suitability of kebab for breakfast, but I'm English and have therefore had more than one leftover kebab after a night out and now I want to go to that hotel.
A dear friend would buy two kebabs of a night out, eat one, return with the other safely tucked into an armpit, hide it in the communal kitchen (never found the hiding place) and then like a magic trick it would reappear for breakfast.
We used to call it the ‘abrakebabra’

I used to do the same on nights out, either got something too big like a bucket of chicken or get two different foods. First night out in years the other week and I ended up home with chicken curry and chips for bed and a chilli and chips for breakfast. Drunk me always looked after hungover me
Re heated doner meat the next day, with the leftover onions and cabbage, in a sandwich is the food of the gods.. Soo many people turn their nose up at the idea... Until they actually taste it.
I feel like not enough places understand this: the hospitality industry is struggling, but it’s easy to fix - let someone have a really ace experience playing with a doner kebab machine and they’ll remember it for the rest of their lives and return at every opportunity.
I used to go to the Mongolian BBQs in London (RIP). They would normally cook whatever you put together in the bowl, in front of you on the giant hot plate. But I was a regular and they'd always let me cook my own (after teaching me all the techniques). It was great fun, loved it. The chain was closed afaik due to health and safety issues.
I don't disagree, but on the other hand, those knives they use (especially the electric ones) look like something which is an insurance nightmare.
But as I say, that's an excellent point.
I once went to a Madness concert, where they had a doner kebab van on stage, and when various members of the band weren't doing anything, they wandered over and got a kebab. There was a cocktail bar the other side of the bar, so the band were loading up on kebabs and piña coladas...
Four Seasons, Sharm el Sheikh. Yes, it's a very posh hotel, but if you wait until there's a major terrorist incident in the area (like we did), the price will plummet to something around the price of the Scunthorpe Premier Inn.
This works because even if you don't finish the whole thing in one go you can just turn the heat off and just leave it there for as long as you like until you next fancy one - no need to refrigerate or worry about re-reheating!
Yea and when ever your wife or misses comes in the kitchen you can say "yes boss what can I get you?".
And keep the biggest jar of lolly pops in the world on the back worktop and give one to your kids every time they come in the kitchen!
I actually buy doner kebab machines for my enemies as passive aggressive gifts.
The massive overconsumption of doner meat will not only kill them early but it'll make them slowly descend into a fat, unhealthy misery.
I just buy the bags of kebab meat from Iceland (usually the big bags of shawarma meat). Just empty the bag into a hot (dry) frying pan, put a lid on it, let it sweat for 10 mins, then take the lid off, give it a stir and let it fry for another 5, stirring regularly, before turfing it out onto a garlic & coriander naan. No need to add oil, it'll release plenty when cooking.
Brings back the pre- justeatflation days of a large kebab for under a fiver... Just without the hairy Turkish guy calling you boss - that you'll have to source yourself. Look down the world foods isle in mozzers for "crucials chilli sauce" too - it's fairly decent.
(Other supermarkets sell frozen kebab meat, but it usually smells like a wet dog wrapped in cardboard when cooking... Iceland's strangely doesn't).

Don’t knock it. I was young and it was good money. The physique goes, as does the spirit. But then I see the desire for “dad bods” and I’m thinking the meat twirling business might not be a bad field to be in.
Bullshit, it’s clearly a prop pan for comedy theatre etc. You can completely imagine Charlie Chaplin or buster keaton trying to cook his breakfast in one of these.
I've seen pans like this in kebab shops - they place it with the cutout side against the big rotating cylinder of doner meat and slice strips off it, which fall into the pan.

Nothing unhealthy about pure blended lamb and lard cooked until a carcinogenic crust forms around the outside though is there? It even comes with a sizeable side of salad and a healthy, low calorie flatbread as standard!
Ehh, even the highest quality donner meat SHOULD be very fatty, so I wouldn't call it health food in any context. The higher quality stuff doesn't look like a homogenous elephant's leg though, but rather, it looks like it is made up of layers.
People seem to think that fat is inherently unhealthy when this is absolutely untrue. Fat is part of a balanced and healthy diet, it's when you constantly consume fat in large quantities that it becomes a problem but you could say that for literally any other food type.
Too many carbs are unhealthy, too much protein is unhealthy, too much fibre is bad for you.
Easiest way to tell is the composition of the meat.
If you can see its actual cuts of meat, just stacked on top of each other on the spit, no more unhealthy than any other meat. Healthier than frying where it would sit in the fat/oil
If the meat's a solid lump of grey, that in no way resembles any cut of meat. That's processed to hell crap. Not good for you.
I once saw the ambulance pulling away after delivering it, and when they put it on the kebab tower it still had a shoe on the bottom!
So yes, avoid "doner kebab". "Dona" is fine though.
If it is grey mush that only tastes good if you are drunk or put a load of sauce on it, it's full of crap.
Real dona is made using cuts of meats not mush.

Was it for sale? I’ve seen these used to demo induction hobs. If you put a bar of chocolate so it’s lying with half on the pan and half on the ring. The half on the pan melts and the half on the ring stays solid.
Honestly, that was my immediate thought at first. It looks quite convenient to help making and serving those jiggly omelettes for omurice, until you remember that eggs start this whole process in liquid/runny form 😅
Although if you used a gas stove and help the pan tilted until the eggs can hold their shape, I do think that would be possible!
This wouldn't make it easier to make a Japanese omelette, you do that by pushing it against the side of the pan. Missing a chunk wouldn't help with forming it at all.
Not with the forming part, no, but with the serving part!
After forming it by pushing it gently on the side where the handle is, then I imagine pushing or rolling it on the other side, where the missing chunk is, would be super convenient to put that delicate thing on top of the rice without messing it up!
Have you never seen your distributor's store page? there's usually gyro/doner offerings in there, and they all state lamb, or a combo of beef and lamb for minced meat gyros.

As in, a butcher? I absolutely know that meat can be layered onto a spit and cooked. And I'd gladly make and eat that myself!
But i wouldn't be ordering it from the various late night establishments I have encountered in my life, since I would have concerns about the providence of the meat, and general hygiene...
There's no mystery when you get it from a decent Turkish restaurant. They make them in house. I used to live in the Turkish heartland of London, the big spinning sticks are easy to eyeball and tell which is homemade and which isn't. Now, if you choose to get one from a place that also does pizza and chicken, well, even the cash and carry they got it from likely doesn't know what's in it.

Next time you walk by one just look through the window and it’ll be usually just under the meat carousel, albeit covered in grease.
That's a solid guess! Those compact pans are often used for smaller cooking areas or to heat sauces while using a larger pan. They can also be handy for melting butter or chocolate without taking up too much space.
I mean, I’m obviously not familiar enough with kebab shop implements, I thought it might be so you can sit it snugly next to another pan on a cramped hob. Clearly I’m an idiot.
Apart from you already having the correct answer elsewhere, my deranged mind went to it looking like a kidney dish. You'd be able to drain a nice big cyst, and then fry up the contents to serve with fava beans and a nice chianti.
So once the food is cooked and the pan is cooled, it sits perfectly under the chin of the user, the two extremities sat majestically on the shoulders.
With it's convenient and ergonomic design it allows it's wearer to comfortably eat directly from the stove,

The problem with Canada's kebab places is they're too clean and healthy. I want a proper British kebab. I want an angry brown man who is 94% beard to hand me a congealed slab of suspicious meat drenched in garlic sauce. Like I can tell you the kebab I'm eating right now isn't a real kebab because I'm eating it while sober. The Kebab shop is always ran by a huge dude called Amir. Amir does not speak English. He does speak every other language in the world. Including "I'm shit myself drunk" -ese. "HARGHN JUGHBO GELRCIH PLAGHS?" you ask him. He nods. He begins shaving "meat" off that huge fucking rotisserie beef thing. Your brain, floating as it is in vodka, offers one word, "hoss?". Amir grins. He has heard that joke before. There's no horse in Amir's kebabs. Oh no. Horse is for those fancy fuckers on main street. Amir's meat is heady mix of rat, greyhound and eastern European girls who aren't very good at holding their breath. Amir gestures to the sad-looking vegetables on the counter, but you've already fell asleep with your face pressed against the counter glass. Amir tops your kebab with lettuce, cucumbers, bubble wrap and Styrofoam. He then adds so much garlic sauce that those ingredients cease to be. Amir grunts, and hands you your kebab. He grunts again when you nearly leave without paying. You stagger back to the counter and thrust a - wad of sweaty fivers into his hands. Amir gives you your exact fucking change. The next minutes look like a mix between the walking dead and a particularly messy bukkake video. You pass a young couple, you attempt a smile. You look like you just came off the casting couch with Peter North. Eventually you make it home, leaving a slimy trail of garlic sauce behind you. Then you fall asleep mid-shit on the toilet. You awake to the gentle touch of cool porcelain. Your throat and tongue seem to have sprouted hair. One of your eyes is crusted shut. Know now that this is your heritage and your legacy. You are a man of Britain my son. Change your sheets before you go out for a night on the town. It's the best gift you can give your drunk self.

That's definitely a doner kebab pan. The curved cutout is designed to fit snugly against the rotating meat spit. It's a surprisingly specific piece of equipment for a home kitchen!
Everyone is saying for kebabs which may be true but I believe it is for small hobs/stoves so you can have more pans on. It curves round the pan on the next burner.
Used to work in a Kebab shop so can confirm this is what we used to scoop the meat into whilst it was cutting, especially if we were only doing the 1 kebab. The cutout lets you get closer to the meat.

My immediate thought was "oh cool. So you can use all 4 burners without one thing being pushed off". But maybe I just need a greater variety of pot sizes.
Back in the 80s when they were only a few kebab shops and no just eat we used to get the kebab before going out and leave it on a radiator to keep warm for when we got in.
I still think it was the pub not cleaning their lines properly that made me ill.
This is what I found on their website:
"This specially designed frying pan is ideal for takeaway use as the pan is cut so it more closely fits around a doner meat roll to catch the meat as you cut and peel it."
My best guess would be it’s designed to heat up food to a temperature that kills off anything that might make you sick, whilst also making the food more palatable. Hope this helps
