People with low VRAM, I have something for you that won't help.

Posted by Uncle___Marty@reddit | LocalLLaMA | View on Reddit | 32 comments

redditor_no_10_9@reddit

Imagine Intel release a GPU where anyone can add VRAM by themselves and then allow anyone to manufacture the VRAM. Probably will destroy the super green company's business modal of starving GPU of VRAM

Why VRAM isn't the only bottleneck.

Try to mention enough time of Super when posting/replying in r/nvidia and you might get a ban. Especially if they're very **generous with VRAM. RTX 4080 12GB should tell you not to buy an Nvidia GPU

When do you think open-source AI models will be as capable as Gemini 3.0 Pro? And when will it be possible to run models with that level of power on a personal computer that costs around 2,000–3,000 dollars?

What's with the price discrepancy between manufacturers of the 5070Ti?

Posted by 2025sbestthrowaway@reddit | buildapc | View on Reddit | 18 comments

redditor_no_10_9@reddit

Nvidia AI is hosting a lottery on who will get bad batches of RTX 5069 Ti, RTX 5079 and RTX 5089. Based on Nvidia AI *honest disclosure of the lottery, we might get a non Ti RTX 5069 too. AIBs, fearful of drop in demand quickly upped prices to compensate.

What are the current expectations for March 6 when AMD's new GPU's "come out" or whatever?

AMD marketing is now being run by a crew that operates based on hope and dreams. Try asking why follow Nvidia naming scheme and how it doesn't backfire if Nvidia AI decided to drop their price matching part

Are all the 5090s having power/fire issues or just specific vendors?

What is the incentive to buy a NVIDIA gpu over AMD?

Posted by Helpful-Option-3047@reddit | buildapc | View on Reddit | 160 comments

redditor_no_10_9@reddit

Incentive: Encourages Nvidia to fake graph and fake MSRP. Encourages AMD to continue their price matching partnership with Nvidia. Buy a Steam Deck to delay until the next console smokes $400 GPUs

Or go the Intel road. Intel Arc B580. AMD and Nvidia has shown their successful price matching partnership. Or alternative is get a Steam Deck and spread the word so that Steam Deck becomes the minimum target specs and not Switch AI.

Suggest to wait. Nvidia AI marketing will scare all retailers and in a panic, retailers decide to keep their warehouse full of RTX 4000 series instead of playing Nvidia games.

If AMD abandons the high-end GPU market, does this mean the RX 7900 XTX will be the strongest AMD GPU for a long while?

redditor_no_10_9@reddit

Since AMD has drop into the AI black hole, there won't be a Vega with their upcoming Polaris. I am not walking forward to AMD price matching Nvidia's weaker 5000 series whose only purpose is to sell 5000 super.

Buy a 7800XT now or wait for the 8000 series ? I'm seriously torn.

Give up on AMD. Just buy a Steam Deck and use it to weather this long desert storm. Pray Microsoft keep tripping themselves up and Sony keep upping the pricing of consoles+games. Let us stay together in the 1080p island so long that a mobile GPU kicks Nvidia teeth in.

GPU price drop soon?
