What's with the price discrepancy between manufacturers of the 5070Ti?

On every store they range from $750 USD to $999 USD for what is effectively the same card. Is there any difference to consider in terms of manufacturer, or are these simply the prices they've elected to set knowing that demand will still be there at the higher price? In your opinion, Is it hopeless to wait for the MSRP-priced ones to become available? Aside from impatience, is there a reason to consider 1 manufacturer over another? This is a super common practice that all the AIBs have done for years. It’s not new or specific to the 5070ti. IMO it’s the most normal version of it compared to 5080 and 5090. The FE and other largely “untouched” versions of the card are $750, the MSRP. You want the super fancy brand version with RGB and an overlock and better cooling? You pay more for it.

There is no FE version though. In the UK apparently there isn't an MSRP model at all.

Markets outside of the context of OPs question and my answer will be different, yes. You’re right about the FE though. I always forget they stop at xx80.

It's a boys club of shitbag manufacturers trying to retain the most profit. there is zero reason to not buy a $750-$800 version assuming you can get one. The card is not exceptional in any way at $1k, but represents a great value at $800 or less.

Nvidia has a monopoly that needs to be addressed. Sure, they license out the rights to build the cards but they take such huge cut that the licensing and production costs make the cards unprofitable. The supply is artificially constrained, the price is artificially inflated, the licensing terms are ridiculously restrictive. All in all, a monopoly that needs to be sued as it stifles competition and innovation in the space.

Well partners have said that making cards at msrp is unprofitable so they will just make a few and continue selling the high end models, so in the end it is unlikely for msrp stock to come around unless the market crashes

I don't anyone is privy to AIB margins, but it's quite obvious when FE models are always $100 or more cheaper than AIB models. EVGA directly cited this as one of the (many) reasons they quit the GPU business.

Why many companies have agreements with their suppliers that they aren’t allowed to sell/compete in aftermarket. Of course that is when the manufacturer doesn’t own the IP to the product which is the opposite of this scenario.

Nvidia AI is hosting a lottery on who will get bad batches of RTX 5069 Ti, RTX 5079 and RTX 5089. Based on Nvidia AI *honest disclosure of the lottery, we might get a non Ti RTX 5069 too. AIBs, fearful of drop in demand quickly upped prices to compensate.

Each brand is required to carry one model at MSRP. Those are the Gigabyte Windforce OC, MSI Ventus, ASUS Prime (non-OC), PNY base model, etc. They're all bare-bones cards with basic fans and no fancy designs or RGB, which is generally fine, although I would advise against the Ventus as the fans are *really* bad. The problem is, each brand only makes as many of the MSRP models as they're contractually required to, so they're extremely low production compared to the fancier ones.
