Made the biggest mistake of my entire life last night.

I got my DUI in a much more innocent situation (parked car with keys in the passenger floorboard - how that could even be called a DUI is beyond me) but yeah, your career is over. Your whole life damn near it, if you have bills to pay. I'm just trying to make it breaking my back for pennies until I can get back into the only thing I know how to do.  I just think it's funny how, the punishment for getting a dui, is to put you in a position that just makes you want to drink far more than ever before. I had finally escaped homelessness after nearly 2 years, I had just bought my first house, I bought my first decent new car. That lasted about a month, and then it was taken all away. Because I was drunk, sitting in a parked vehicle, with the engine turned off, and the keys in the floor. I had just got the news that my dad was dying, 800 miles away, I hadn't drunk in a while, so I decided sure why not. Celebrate a new home, celebrate a new car, dampen the pain of unfortunate news.  Nope. How dare you. This isn't really anything about cops, I know they're just doing their job. They have technicalities that they have to push on. But the courts, the courts should be doing better. Especially when the police report literally says that the person getting charged with certain things wasn't even doing those things. I never argued, and I accepted what was given to me. I still think I was treated fairly well, given the circumstances. It's still over, no matter what you do.

is the job economy really this bad?

[Atrocious Demonstration] Truck DayCab Decapitation

Yeah let's ignore the widespread introduction of things like airbags, 3 point seatbelts, safety seats, anti lock braking systems, better maintained roads with reflective paint and reflectors, better lighting and visibility, steel belted radial tires, etc etc. Ya know, actual safety features that protect occupants and help maintain control of the vehicle..... No, that 20% reduction that happened since all of those actual safety features were introduced was just from making cars fall apart and crumple like a tin can. Obviously.

I'm amazed people are still buying this shit. Show us one instance where this has actually proven to be the case in a real life scenario.

At least it's red. That's the best color for your eyes because it fks your pupils up less than other colors. That's why emergency lights in buildings and map lights in trucks are typically red.

Why are many of you getting paid so little???

No the government just keeps jacking up the minimum wage and then people wonder why everyone is being replaced by machines and we can't afford anything anymore. When flipping burgers pays the same as being an EMT what are you gonna do

Why would you ever do this?

Can't argue with stupidity. Just look at the picture you've been arguing with everyone about. You've been beaten by common sense man give it up lol

Yeah, it was a lot harder to turn a decade old Cadillac into the longest car on the planet back in the 80s than it was to turn that used OTR truck into a dedicated toy hauler by removing the 5th wheel and one of the axles...

Why would you ever do this?

How is there a 1976 Cadillac Eldorado that's over 100 feet long and has 26 wheels. People modify shit long after it leaves the factory.

401 in Toronto. What would cause a fire back there?

Damn is it really that bad out here? I make a solid $1400-$1700 a week. No week is below $1100 take home unless I fuck up it's garunteed. For that piss poor money I'd go drive a box truck or something and be home every day and on the weekends. No way I'd put in 70 hours for less than a grand.

One; Stop doing leaving your damn piss bottles everywhere, two, for the love of God please drink some water I beg you

Both to piss us off (how dare we exist on *their* roads) and as an insurance scam. They want a new car or at least a fat check so they'll do shit like that to get you to wreck into their's since they can't afford shit. I just think it's incredible that these fuckers have actually managed to be a danger to us even when they're parked. At some point it becomes less stupidity and more of a fkin skill.

Why is it an issue that people pass you? Do you think that no one in a semi should go more than 70 mph? Stay in the right lane and get passed by people "doing their darnedest". No need to be so angry about it. I'm not really thinking, it's common sense. Most people naturally know things like this by default.

joshc1957@reddit

Well yeah, I'm a defensive driver, like anyone with common sense should be. You sound mad that people in semi trucks pass you even after you speed up and hold up the left lane.

I'm in the same position right now man. Been at it long enough now. I just entered the best relationship of my life and I won't squander it over this silly job. I'll go drive a day cab or a box truck idc. Planning to put in my 2 weeks notice around half way through October. I'm out.

I've been out here for too long and I have things outside of work happening in my life and I need to be home for her... Anything where I can get 2 days off every weekend and still pocket at least $1100 a week? I'm stuck in this truck for another week and a half and it's tearing me apart

Only ever went to Walmart DCs when I worked for a shitty ass company that didn't pay shit among other things. Company I've been with for the past year has never sent me to one and we're doing better than most companies hauling general freight *cough* yellow *cough*. If he's worth his salt as an o/o he won't have any issues...

I'd rather drive that than my tupperware torpedo crapscadia. Only thing is I'd need is a high roof for the storage because I practically live in the truck with my girlfriend.

Only if you don't abide by the simple rules. It's in the contract you sign to become an owner. "Like tons" okay. My company is growing, union companies are going under and their workers are getting shafted. But what do I know lol

Yes this ain’t for me😂

Most of us were considerate. We had two groups of people. People that slip seat and people who had been there 15-30 years, had set schedules and their own designated trucks. I suppose had I stayed for over a decade and got promoted to a bid driver it would have been worth it. But I'd rather do OTR

Laying around all day and doing nothing for anyone isn't something to brag about. The fact that you think it is and try to use that to put down people who work speaks volumes about who you are as a person.

I drive a cascadia. Not a super trucker. I get 10 mpg loaded and don't pay any union dues. My equipment is nice rather than the rickety shit union drivers typically have to use until it breaks. Oh and I still have a job lmao. Plus I automatically own large amounts of stock in my company, and when I retire it will pay out far more than the crappy pension those yellow drivers were promised and never received.

Even if I were an old man it would drive me nuts to not have a purpose in life and something productive to do for society. I enjoy giving and helping people for a living. Makes sense that you're proud to be so selfish and greedy. I'm not jealous of anyone who gets to sit on their ass all day and do nothing 😂

You're completely ignoring the videos and all the workers out there that didn't get their pensions. Shame on you. Typical liberal bs. Act like you care about the little guy but in reality only support the big guys and turn a blind eye when they screw over the little guy.

So you have nothing better to do than argue online about things that don't even affect you? Lol. Go back to your golf or whatever and let the workers talk about work. You're not in this conversation lmao

Actually they didn't. Lot's of videos out there of workers who had been there for decades ready to throw hands over not getting their pensions. Union workers got screwed as usual. Fat union rats made their money and bailed leaving every single worker there without a job or a pension. Bootlicker? I'm an owner of my company lol
