I delivered to a place practically next to San Francisco airport where it was clearly not meant for 53 footers. To make it worse the employees parked all over the dock parking. So it made my already difficult backing damn near impossible. After maybe 10 minutes and GOALing like 10000 times. I got it in and the shipper had to nerve to ask why i took so long. After I explained I had to blind side back in a small area NOT meant for 53 footer + cars everywhere + it was dark and no one wore vest and they were all just casually walking around the yard. I said 10 mins was a good time. They said āwe get truckers all the timeā. F you lol
Doing local Chicago LTL P&Dā¦where the centuries old docks were made when 40āers and cabovers were the norm, especially places like post officesā¦I laugh because a fucking SmartCar would have trouble with some of these docksā¦.then the dock workers have the nerve to bitch about taking 8 min to properly bump the rubberā¦I just tell them āand you take 5 hours to load one palletāā¦
Iām gonna have to start saying that.
I told one shipper you want it done right or wrong? Cause if you want it wrong Iāll back it in without pulling up and however it is when I get to the dock is how Iāll leave it. Then they plz take your timeā¦
Youāre god damn right i took my time lol
Until you get to a Walmart, where theyāll straight up skip you if youāre not checked in, through their twisting ass lots, bumped, and fully disconnected within ten minutes. Honestly, no wonder their equipment always looks like shit.
Both to piss us off (how dare we exist on *their* roads) and as an insurance scam. They want a new car or at least a fat check so they'll do shit like that to get you to wreck into their's since they can't afford shit.
I just think it's incredible that these fuckers have actually managed to be a danger to us even when they're parked. At some point it becomes less stupidity and more of a fkin skill.
Cheaper to have a trucking company buy them a new car to replace their fucked up beater they sideways on the loan on.
I hate that shit, it's always the old, fucked up cars parking close to the docks.
You are estimating way to much thinking going on. They simply don't think besides their own horizon (which typically ends with the windows of their own car).
Delivered to a place in Ft.Smith Arkansas that the truck and trailer had to be backed in off the street, through their gate and then a tight turn into the dock. The distance between the dock and the fence on that side of the property meant the truck and trailer had to be L shaped in as well. I stare at this mess for a few minutes and the dock guy is like the guy next door will put it in with his yard dog for $20. Iām like lol,āfuck that,Iām a professionalā. Also secretly wishing I had a $20 bill on me. I back it in and hit that fucker perfectly on the first try. A different dude is standing there and says wow,that was pretty impressive. Iām like thanks. Then he says I hate to say this but I need you to move now because you are blocking our delivery truck in. I was seriously like WHAT.THE.FUCK!!! Pulled back out and then right back in which was actually even easier than the first time as it was a dry dusty dirt parking lot and I just watched my trailer tires and followed my original path in the dust.
*looks at the sign above his dock saying 8 foot overhang, has cars parked in the way, to top.it off to fit your tractor needs to be fully jack knifed blind side where your door will be right at the wall.*
Ya plenty of space
<chuckle>
Nope, there's room to turn all the way around and back in strongside, but you have to pull in the lot to be able to see that. We get at least a dozen trucks a day in here, and most guys have no problem.
Well it's not your truck on the line. I see so many yards that had room to start with then they start setting out whatever product they sell in the yard that was designed for trucks to get through. I pull a flatbed, I can take the straps off and unload that shit with a hard turn and a hard brake.
This but we have places that are meant for daycabs with 5th wheels pulled all the way up and we always run sleepers with 5th wheels pulled back. Makes enough of a difference but i usually just park however i need to and ask for the shift supervisor or owner if any lower level employees bitch.
