Why are many of you getting paid so little???

Few reasons. For starters some of the really important laws that protect normal workers don't apply to truck drivers. If all the laws that apply to say Jim Bob flipping burgers for McDonalds applied to us truckers, we'd be doing a lot better financially. ​ Secondly the Mega-carriers drive cost of freight down. They have so many trucks that they can afford to be the lowest bidder on just about anything. As a result, small companies or O/O are forced to run at those rates if they are hauling any freight that competes with a mega. ​ Then you have the drivers that are from other countries, who happily work for dirt cheap because it's still a fuck ton more money than they could have ever made in their old country. They get a lot of incentives to come over here and work, and as a result they can send a large chunk of what they make back home, allowing their families to live like they are rich. So with so many of these people coming over, large companies don't see a need to pay more. So what if Joe Bob (Jim Bob's brother) wants 60 cpm. Habib over here is eager to do it for 45 cpm. ​ On top of that you have drivers who have dirty driving histories, that make it so no reputable company is willing to hire them. The shitty companies take advantage of this with "Well, if you want to continue driving a truck, then you'll take our shit pay. Or go find another line of work", and these people either don't want to find something, or unable to for what ever reason. So they accept the shit pay at the shit company cause they still need the experience, and in 3 years they can go to a better company. ​ Finally you have the idiots that simply believe what they make every week is great money, and are happy to be getting it. ​ All of that together culminates in a large bulk of drivers over here being paid shit.
