Does the majority of people from Britain (excluding English) really want to see England win or lose this footy final tomorrow?

Is this a thing? Crossed legged based hair loss.

Posted by plasticmotives@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 40 comments

infinitelydeadinside@reddit

I'm in my mid 30s and have bald patches on my thighs where my trouser pockets (and their contents) rub on my legs while walking. A normal 9-hour shift for me involves ~15,000 steps, so there's a fair amount of fabric friction. Do you spend a lot of time sitting cross-legged as you described?

My employer (one with an unfairly positive reputation as "a good company to work for") announced pay rises this year that still leave us trailing behind *all* competitors in the industry.

I think the whole "thick clouds of vape that replicates a fruit scented steam train" vaping is losing popularity. But disposable vapes are still a big thing, and much more accessible to children.

How to confront my man-baby dad about him constantly leaving piss on the toilet rim?

Posted by QC420_@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 15 comments

In all honesty, I initially started sitting down to pee if I woke up in the night (to keep the sleepy feeling), but then realised that sitting down to pee is far superior. Unless someone has covered to seat in piss, or course.

Honey is pretty expensive compared to grapes, apples, malt, etc. Especially high-quality honey for specific flavour profiles. I know prices will change with scale and all that, but mead was by far my most expensive homebrew about 10 years ago.

While it doesn't make me proud to be British, I am immensely proud of the NHS. While it may have its faults (almost entirely due to funding and semi privatisation), it is truly something special. The more I learn about how healthcare operates around the world, the more thankful I am for our NHS. And the angrier I become towards those who try to ruin/destroy it.

How do I make money as a disabled person in the uk?

Posted by Objective_Wasabi_543@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 45 comments

infinitelydeadinside@reddit

I think a lot of it is down to luck and timing. A lot of supermarkets advertise October-November to hire Christmas temps on a 12-week contract, but they often keep on people who can do the job well. Obviously, individuals are different, but my ASD means my attention to detail with working stock and neatness of packing orders caught managements attention. And my BPD means that I'm so worried about other people's opinions of me that I'll work myself sick rather than have anyone think I'm not pulling my weight. Apart from the random mood swings, pointing out loopholes in company procedures, and slightly above average sickness record: I'm a managers dream.

infinitelydeadinside@reddit

It's far from perfect, but I (ASD and BPD) work nights in a supermarket. No customers and most other people working nights are odd/outsiders (I don't mean that in a derogatory way) as a lot of them don't want to deal with a shit load of human interaction during the day. The pay is just enough to keep me housed and fed (something I'm apparently meant to be thankful for).

Is it legal to smoke in the line to the bus?

If it was outside, then it's legal. It's a total dick move by the person vaping, but still legal. Though, if being a dick was illegal, we'd have incarceration rates higher than even the US.

What is your childhood bully up to now?

infinitelydeadinside@reddit

He died when the car he was driving ploughed into a war memorial. One passenger also died, and 2 others were injured iirc. He was one of 2 main childhood bullies, and I've only had one interaction with each since leaving school. One (still alive) walked up to me, shook my hand, asked how I was doing, and was just a normal scaffolding guy. The other (dead) shouted my full name across a busy high street, I started to wave and say hi when he followed up with a "You wanker".

About 10 years ago, I received a "DIY Suicide Kit" as a secret santa gift. It was a shoebox containing 32 paracetamol, 4 cans of lager, a kitchen knife, a notepad, and a pen. I only say it was work appropriate because my manager thought it was fucking hilarious. Turns out that my getting upset about it was just an overreaction on my part.

People that don’t have a relationship with their parent(s) would you still go to their funeral?

Posted by ziggy1131@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 249 comments

infinitelydeadinside@reddit

I've been wishing my father was dead since I was 13 and haven't seen or spoken to him in 15 years. The only circumstance under which I'd attend his funeral was if my brother (2 years younger than me) wanted me there to support him. But at this point, I don't think even my brother would go. I'm a useless prick who has accomplished nothing in my 35 years of life, but even a bladder full of my piss deserves better than being dumped on that cunts grave. The worst part is that I'm fully aware that my seeming inability to let go of a grudge is 100% a behaviour I learned from him, and I hate myself for it as much as I hate him.

People who have quit smoking, how?

Posted by hxlywatershed@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 948 comments

infinitelydeadinside@reddit

Nicotine pouches. I've tried everything else (vaping, patches, gum, etc. but have always ended up smoking again within 3 months. I've been using nicotine pouches and been smoke-free for over 2 years now. Most shops that sell tobacco also sell some pouches, but I get much more selection and value buying them online. Admittedly, I've not given up nicotine. But my aim was primarily to save money, I spend about 60% less on pouches than I did on tobacco.
