England 0 - 0 Sweden. 1999 at (the old) Wembley. Four of us got tickets and travelled down from Bradford. Worst game of football I have ever seen.

They only do the typical F&C standard fayre. No pizzas, kebabs, burgers etc. Fish, chips, sausage, cakes, scraps and curry sauce. A choice of cod & haddock always a winner too.

Two hours to take control? This is a so-called emergency service. As mentioned, the service was torn apart in the official enquiry. This is not just my opinion.

Still the fire service, is it not? The post incident review condemned the service. It didn't take to task a couple of people. Children bleeding to death. But best do what the boss says.

The Fire Service. So controversial. We are brain washed to love them. But the way they shirked out of helping after the Manchester Bombing is shameful. Police officers from Yorkshire were in the building before them, as they were worried it wasn't safe. Children literally bleeding to death why the burly firemen waited to be told it was safe. Two hours after the bomb detonated they arrived on scene, even though two crews were close enough to hear the explosion! They met three miles away at a rendezvous point first. Officially classed as pointless in the enquiry.

Me! And I am from Bronte Country on outskirts of Bradford. My surname and mothers maiden name both originated in 'The West Riding of Yorkshire'. So I feel I am letting people down. But....its just crispy batter. Cheap crap. There's a reason Toby Carvery try fill you up on those giant ones, and it is so that you don't eat all the spuds! Keep that Yorkshire, and add another slice of beef and an extra roastie. That's my thinking.

Posted by Accurate_Grocery8213@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 521 comments

If my plan is to go last minute, I am just as organised as someone that goes three days ago. However, I don't need to worry about storing the items as long as you. The fridge is only so big. And if your store doesn't have goods for people that go last minute, even though its every year, then I would suggest you have failed to plan!

When a person is sent to prison, are they allowed to go home and pack a bag, or do the get carted off straight to prison?

Long story short....I didn't do it. I had character refs from 6 serving police officers (including two quite senior) and two serving magistrates. All advice was 'say not guilty, take it to crown, jury will kick it out in 30 mins'. Well that didn't go to plan!

Once got 18 month for Affray. Took a bag of toiletries and clothes. All confiscated when going in (HMP Hull). To answer the question with a bit more detail. You get carted off straight to jail. You won't even get to speak to loved ones. Just dragged down from court to the holding cells. The jail you go to depends on locations and offence. I was 'Cat C' but taken to HMP Hull (Cat B) for a couple of weeks before HMP Ranby. You get processed and given 'jail' clothes. You get a meal and the option to have a hot shower. You earn the right for 'outside' clothes, but that is after a couple months or so. Its a cashless system. You can be given credit by family & friends and you earn credit by working. Not everyone has a job though. These vary from serving food, sweeping up or even more 'normal' jobs. I had a night shift job in HMP Ranby making plastic buckets, spoons, bowls etc using a plastic moulding machine. However you have limits to what you can spend. It used to be a printed form, and you tick your choices. Maybe hand in on Monday receiving goods Thursday. Phone calls were limited to about 5 numbers. Not mobiles either. Had to submit numbers in advance, couldn't just get to phone and dial anyone. You would be a fool to not have your affairs in order if you were expecting jail! I had a house and mortgage!

What do you do if someone is driving with their full beams on *behind* you?

Trying to figure out how we are in a position whereby the natural reaction is to assume they are a bad person. Is it not possible that people can make mistakes these days? Does everyone need to be assumed to be reckless and about to cause death?

What do you do if someone is driving with their full beams on *behind* you?

flashdonut@reddit

Again. Why you adding words and making assumptions? I do know that. I stated its careless and a hazard. That has never been in dispute. Please, take 5, sit down, and re-read. All I have ever asked, is why a mistake in a car automatically means they want to die? That's it. I just want to know why we get that assumption. I will happily state you need to pay attention. And happily agree that the more dangerous the activity, the more attention you should pay. That's obvious. When have I ever implied otherwise? But for the 4th or 5th time, can you tell me why if they don't pay full attention, it means they want to be dead. I can't see that link in thought. I have a feeling you are avoiding my question, and keep going on a tangent, because you know it doesn't make sense.

How does that change intent? Because they are driving, they can't make mistakes and so obviously want to die? What about people that missed their turning? Should they be on suicide watch? The people that petrol in diesel? Suppose they are all in a morgue. There's nothing to suggest that just because somebody is careless and a hazard to others that they are intending to kill themselves. That is absurd.

They could do loads of mistakes. But again, it doesn't mean they want to end their own life. I saw somebody try pull a door at the weekend that said push. That was a mistake. But I highly doubt he is lying in a morgue this morning.

Your 15th word literary says mistake. I never said argue. I literally said what I did, and that is does not mean they want to kill themselves.

Are boomers/elderly people the elephant in the room regarding the housing crisis?

Posted by WearingMarcus@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 457 comments

flashdonut@reddit

The only reason there's an option to downsize, is our countries insistence to get round the housing crisis by building tiny houses. Most new builds now have a 3rd bedroom that is about as big as a store cupboard. They have a drive big enough for one small car. The 'standard' family home is now not big enough, so it is just a stepping stone. We need to find a way, without adding massive costs, to get houses built to a size that is suitable, long term, for the average family. Just a quick google gives loads of details. 'WHICH' says they are now 20% smaller. Canada, France, Japan, Australia, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Sweden & Italy all build bigger.

Bloke here. The men that dislike the women's football are insecure. That simple. I am happy knowing that the Lionesses are better footballers than me. And I played Sunday League football. The maggots that post the weird comments are jealous that 'a bunch of girls' are far better than them.

Baseball is about the 756685 most popular sport in the UK. More people play conkers. However American Football has a decent following. Myself and a few mates always watch Superbowl in a bar and book the day off work the day after. I personally follow the 'Phins.

I was speaking to some friends from America who didn't know that school houses are actually a thing in the UK. They thought it was a made up Hogwarts thing. Mine were Neptune (blue) Mars (Red) Jupiter (yellow) and Venus (green) What were your school houses called?

Would set up a homeless charity in Bradford. Would give £10m each to Cancer Research and the NSPCC. Would donate to BFD City & BFD Bulls. Thinking half a million each for the next 20 years, for a a box at both with everything included. Would have a box at Rangers, a box for all meetings at York Races, a box at Old Trafford and Wembley. Helicopter to take me there. A nice yacht in the med. Circa £6m. Running costs circa 10% a year (yes I have researched as I dream aboyt winning too much). Package at Superbowl every year. A house in Yorkshire, two in the Med (Greece and maybe Italy), one in Florida and one in Toronto. Would give £25million to friends and family.
