I mean, I trust that they're lying, self serving arseholes.

Trust the Tories to give tax money to the rich, trust Labour and LibDem to be spineless and do nothing, trust Reform to torpedo the entire country after the next GE.

We need to do all we can to keep Farage ever becoming PM. If that means voting for a lesser scoundrel, so be it.
View on Reddit #60906732

Interesting_Front709@reddit

By all means if you love a life that is controlled by the government and you support WEF/ Davos because we are headed into that direction 🥴
View on Reddit #61010996

ConstantReader666@reddit

What are you on about? True Farage might not show up, just like he never showed up to represent us as MEP and currently doesn't show up to do his job as MP, but Trump's buddy is the last possible person to do anything that doesn't line his own pockets. At least the other parties make a show of trying to do something to benefit the people, even the rip off Cons. Farage won't even bother with that. He's a complete wastrel.

Oh please, Farage is a consummate self-promoter and grifter, and has never done a single good thing in his life. Starmer was at least DPP
View on Reddit #61009166

Mad_Mark90@reddit

I don't think there's a sound argument to be made here, the best I can think of is that because Farage hasn't been in power yet he isn't responsible for any war crimes yet.
View on Reddit #60928195

ConstantReader666@reddit

There is no bigger scoundrel than Farage. Even the open theft from the parade of Tory rip off merchants doesn't come close to the complete collapse he would foist on us. Remember Farage said the budget under Liz Truss was the best in decades, just before the economy collapsed. Starmer is a bumbler without the backbone to tax the rich like a proper Labour PM. He needs replacing, but not by Farage. Definitely not by Farage.

And yes, many SNP voters are like a cult as was proven during the whole Sturgeon and her husband being thieving bastards saga. They set up a gofundme for a couple who were stealing from this country. I guess we know where you sit on it 😂😂😂

I’m ‘All over the place’, then responding with that steaming pile of dribble?? FYI, I’m not from Glasgow, nor support either of those teams, stuck in a revisionist version of history and bigotry. Not how proof works, voting SNP has nothing to do with ‘hating Britain’ and your attempt to play the big man with your ‘wee man’ comment is beyond funny. I’ll carry on being a grown up and you can keep flinging your childish assumptions around. You’re hilarious.

So it's about weeding through the empty promises and lies and trying to work out whose policies mostly align with your own, and which is likely to be achievable based on the counties finances. But remember... theres only so much money in the pot. To improve one area means to take away from improving another, or even a decline in others. So it all has to be weighed up. Its great to make all the promises they want but to pay for them usually means higher taxes somehwre along the way or a reduced service in others. As a general rule, no. We have so many career politicians and I’m instantly dubious of people who actively seek positions of power. I also believe that there is such global corruption that whoever is in power will always have something the very wealthy can use to leverage. The height of corruption felt like the Tory gov over Covid times especially- the billions of tax money that was given to truly pathetic tenders from companies with ties to the party (some of whom delivered almost nothing of their quotas) felt like a kick in the collective bollocks after years of austerity measures.

Find me a Prime Minister who’s never lied. It’s a difficult balancing act. You have to please so many people while maintaining their confidence. Both the public *and* within your own party (many of whom would happily knife you in the back). No wonder PMs sound untrustworthy, their job makes it almost impossible to be sound any other way. That’s not so say most of them do a good job. In fact virtually all of them are spectacular failures. But the job pretty much sets you up for that. I can’t see why anyone would want to do it.

Labour, traditionally on the left (who are seeming more right wing by the day) seem afraid to rock the boat and make the drastic changes a lot of voters believe the country needs. They were voted in on a huge majority with a strong mandate, but seem intent on losing friends and alienating people. The Conservatives genuinely seem to despise the poor, they spout on about how if businessmen ran the government and there was no public sector everything would be better, and somehow have managed to convince large groups of the general public that all of their failures were due to the last labour government, regardless of them being in power for a decade and a half. Reform are full of criminals and grifters, and are currently led by the best snake oil salesman in existence, maybe with the exception of Donald Trump. Also a favourite place for Tories to run off to when they've alienated their current party to the point of kicking them out. The Lib Dems, while having some sensible policies, still lack a lot of credibility for shacking up with the Tories 15 years ago and fucking over every student that voted for them, Ed Davey does seem like a fun guy though which is about all I got from his GE antics. The Greens seem to have a very modern and forward thinking approach, but also sometimes don't appear to know or understand the complexities of some of the things they promise the voters, and I think they scare a lot of people because they seem so "radical". I also don't think I could tell you who their leader is. I'd be lying if I said I thought any of the big 3 have a good plan to turn the country around, they're all so unambitious and slow that things rarely get done before the next GE rolls around, at which point they'll be ousted anyway for doing bugger all.

There’s some cynical folks on here. I think most MPs are generally there because they believe they can improve the country. Even the fuckwits like Liz Truss - I don’t think she’s a bad person, but her views and mine don’t align. And also she’s a fuckwit. There’s a small number of bad apples, which use inevitable in any walk of life and particularly one where you can exercise power over others. However, I think these are tiny compared to the number of good people - as before, this aside from the fact that i might not agree with them politically.  One problem is that those small number of bad apples, and a malicious media, have managed to erode trust to a huge extent, and it’s severely damaged (and continues to damage) the system. It’s hard to build back trust that’s been eroded away over a prolonged period.

Hard agree. If only everyone who complained about politicians were reminded of the existence of people like Jo Cox (God rest her soul), Caroline Lucas, Jack Ashley, Alf Dubs or Leo Abse. I think the question has less to do about nationality, more so about your own political alignment. As a Brit, do I trust ANY nation’s politician? Nope. Politicians are scoundrels and charlatans. They do NOT have your best interests in heart. As a nihilistic liberal socialist, do I trust parties like labour more than the tories? Yes, I’d say so. At least labour members are seemingly more willing to look at the state of things through a more rational and realistic perspective.

I trust a couple of the local councillors I have met, and overall trust Scot Gov and most MSPs to work in the interests of Scotland and its people, but Westminster is totally corrupt from top to bottom and is incapable of reforming or policing itself. Ministers work for the Oligarchs, Aristocracy and Press Barons that own the country and who lobby, finace, blackmail, and bribe them, the rest are just lobby-fodder who only want to keep ahold of their salaries, expenses, 2nd jobs, and other perks. Most realise after a few years in the Commons that Parliament is entirely dysfunctional and mostly about self-enrichment/corruption. They soon learn that making real / beneficial changes to their constituents lives is better done outwith National/UK Government, which only functions to protect the status quo and the already vastly wealthy.

I don’t trust our current government, anybody who is more interested in Davos (WEF) and thinks Westminster is too limiting does not give a sh*t about british people, so including the mayor of london (3 terms) and the rest of Starmer’s cabinet I do not trust any of them all they do is lie!

Yes. Almost all Brits trust their politicians completely. This is because to be a politician in the UK, one must demonstrate the highest levels of honesty, integrity, and courage. They are superior to the rest of us; paragons of virtue against whom even the greatest of us mere proles could never compare.

No, but they make an exception for any that they have dealt with personally. It is common to hear "I don't vote for him, but my local MP was actually really helpful when I contacted him about that problem". And some of the lack of trust is a bit performative.

I have to say any MP (from any of the main parties) I have met have been fine and I trusted them, though I might disagree with some of their policies. I'd wager a small sum that those posting "they are all crooks" have never actually met or talked to an MP.

No, they're all utterly useless and in it for themselves. Bar none. The corruption is more subtle than in the US because our political system is significantly less financialised, but still abhorrent. Likewise the civil service.

Maybe if you’re in your early 20’s and full of naive optimism. But if you’ve been watching a while the answer to your question is: not even a little bit. Every single government in my adult life has broken most if not all of their electoral pledges. This one in record time. Who remembers ‘fully funded’ ? Lying c*nts. We’ve had Johnson ramped up mass migration after pledging to do the opposite and lower migration, Cameron promised to stay on and negotiate Brexit but he ran off with his tail between his legs.not to forget Blair took us into an illegal war and him and Gordon-Brown bankrupted the country. It is impossible to trust our political class in this country.

No. Far too long a history of corruption, spinelessness, dodgy hypocritical personal shenanigans and serving their party's and own business interests above that of their constituents.
