How can I find more information about this tunnel in my basement?

Dunno if this is the case where you live. In Sheffield lots of the terrace house basements were joined together during WW2 as they were being used as bomb shelters. This meant if a house did collapse people could move between basements and escape. Lots of basement were also fitted with reinforcements such as corrugated iron and Acro  Props.

Why does everyone hate the UK?

The grass I always greener on the other side.... That being said taxes seem quite high now compared to how little we now get from public services. I honestly wouldn't mind paying more if we could be more like some of the Scandinavian countries.

What's the best place to call regarding an injured sheep in a field? Tried 101 but they've already closed the case.

I remember being on DofE in the middle of nowhere. Found this sheep completely stuck in an irrigation ditch/narrow stream. Spent like 15 minutes to coordinate getting out for it to jump straight back in the ditch and get stuck again.

Do you believe in the sentiment that popular kids 'peaked in school'?

One of the "popular" kids at my school killed another one in a drunk driving incident. I would say they both probably peaked in highschool.

What was your appendicectomy recovery like?

When i had my appendix out i was in and out same day, i though that was wild. I was also a bit disappointed as it was exam season for me and i was hoping to miss a few more exams. From what i understand mine was a very straight forward case i went to the doctors with a sore stomach one day and there was high levels of something in my blood and that was it surgery was scheduled for the next day. I had key hole surgery they glued me up and sent me on my way. I wish the NHS could always be that efficient.

People who only use the back door to their house, why? The front door is right there

Loads of people in Sheffield do for some reason. We got given several sets of keys for the back door and only one for the front when we moved in.

Can the average Brit run a mile without stopping?

facebreaks@reddit

Personally, I think with the right motivation and enough willpower, YES. Regardless of general fitness, we are endurance creatures. If it's a life or death situation that a mile must be run in no particular time to survive, the animal brain will kick in. (Example: a slow speed walker chasing them with a cattle prod) Just by themselves with no external factors or motivation, probably not.

Very lucky, I opened the window and could feel the heat coming in was bizarre. Think it's because it is an older terrace house, with stone walls on one side so it has a bit of extra insulation.
