Not a fan of Blackpool as I'm from Preston. But have to say St Anne's beach is ace - far enough from the pissed chavs but near enough to wander over. We go there in the motorhome whenever we have Airbnb guests in the house and it's lovely, plus our Labrador gets a proper swim.

Went to do an internship in 1988 or whatever it's called when you do a few weeks at a real company when at further education, at Preston Council surveyors department. Turned up at 9am. Woman on the counter told me to turn up at 12. They literally did fuck-all until they went to the pub at 11. So I got back on the bus, clueless, then came back at 1pm. They all came back absolutely wankered at 2pm. I have stripper stories too!

Used to work for one of the big three in IT so saw lots of this. Could be account sharing which isn't illegal but is against their terms and conditions, not that they give a shit. Could be somebody who is a girl but doesn't want people to know as some customers are creepy as fuck. Could be somebody avoiding having to pay the proper insurance. The list goes on, and until it's legislated properly the companies don't give a shit.

Advanced? You mean the IAM? They can sod off. Many years ago I did a test with them and failed as I indicated on a filter lane. Told me it was a sign I wasn't paying attention, I said any pedestrians would appreciate it. Not worth the drama for 10% off my insurance.

Good question! So we listen to Craig Charles Funk and Soul show on Saturdays on Radio 6. He always plays Homeboy by Maceo Parker in the first half hour or so. Each time it comes on our dog runs up and wants to dance, even if she was asleep. We absolutely love it.

I'm fortunate to live in fulwood now which is beautiful and cheap. Used to work in Hereford - was there a couple of weeks ago to see an old mate. Loved the place but not worth the prices of the place. Also please ignore the pubs as the knobheads in that thing that are there do cause an issue (I'm being deliberately vague obvs)

Why is elderly care worker behaviour in the UK often so bad yet nothing is done?

Posted by Longjumping_Thing723@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 159 comments

buggeryorkshire@reddit

Yup. It's nothing to do with cost, which is ridiculously high, it's to do with management who don't give a shit. I used to know somebody who was paid minimum wage in Gloucestershire for a care job. The place charged nearly 4k a month in fees. The minimum wage chefs quit so they'd just bring in an order from the local chippy each day and worse bought them all bottles of gin or whatever to keep them pliant. It's a dogshit industry.

I was lonely when I moved 150 miles away to Cheltenham many years ago. Mate back home told me to get out. Spent the night with a load of nurses, was messy, and made friends I knew for years. Love my missus but if she left me and I was in that situation I'd go out. I'm not attractive or gregarious but you don't need to be. Just talk.
