I'm actually disgusted enough by Adobe that I will not even use their products. And I think every artist should feel the same way.

Is this push for AI as insane everywhere?

Posted by Legal_Situation@reddit | sysadmin | View on Reddit | 326 comments

billyalt@reddit

My org was extremely cautious about AI to the point of blocking it everywhere and only allowing people to use offline models that could only accesa our data. This year leadership has made a massive push to get everyone to use Claude, even allowing people to install it to user machines. I think its absolutely bonkers

Right, and the devs probably have the same attitude, but i dont think it actually makes sense to rely on Wayland to be a layer of security for us when we should really be auditing what we install before we install, if its going to come at the cost of usability.

It makes sense but its also overzealous. If you're this paranoid about an application then it really has no business on your system.

I think if they just marketed it in pure black with white accents it would have been much better received. Imagine it black and it starts to look like something out of BTAS or The Big O. It would have had a lot more appeal.

Everybody arguing with you is missing the point, and frankly LTT is not even a good reviewer if you're considering buying laptops for an enterprise environment. He doesn't even write his own reviews and barely uses the device he is reviewing.

Monitoring WFH employees?

At my site the biggest section of the business actually found a 30% increase in productivity while doing WFH. A couple higher-ups wanted to make RTO a thing but none of the directors actually enforced so eventually and we all stayed WFH and eventually they just closed the office.

Monitoring software does not make people more productive. To me it sounds like they do not have a way of actually measuring work output in the first place.

>They didn't say they wanted to use SyncThing for personal things? Then just the same; IT needs to get involved for implementation. If they reject the software then that's just how it has to be. >Not everyone works at a... org where there's an IT-blessed solution for everything. Sounds like he does! There's a reason IT has power to yay or nay such things. It's not his device, and he needs to adopt that attitude.
