I think you're fine, in the Netherlands there is a brand of drinking custard which comes in cartons like juice, and it's called Vla. I used to love drinking it when I was a kid.

I worked 8 in a row, as I moved hospitals every year so I was always 'new', and the non-training doctors who stay year after year would get it off. I've left the NHS now and my mental and physical health hasn't been this good since I was a teenager.

A family member of mine tried to cheer up her kids by doing outrageous over the top disco dancing in the Christmas lights section of a garden centre, turning on the singing snowmen/reindeers etc... got lots of dirty looks and only realised what she'd done wrong when the tannoy came on with "thank you for observing the 2 minute silence for Remembrance Sunday". I've been working as a doctor for the last 9 years, whenever we dial an external number from the hospital it comes up as 'private number', and we occasionally have issues with phone calls being automatically screened and not being able to contact patients or their next of kin!

awardwinningbanana@reddit

FYI, Calls from the hospital will ALWAYS be from a 'private number', so I would advise you don't do that. Also, if you have job applications etc and put your phone number down, if they called you it would be from an unknown number, no? Seems like a bad idea for the most part...!

No, you need to call the surgery (or go in in person) and report the missed appointment, and your concerns over the polyps. I'm surprised the hospital where you had your coonoscopy hasn't contacted you!

What do British people call pasta sauce? Like red tomato sauce for pasta

Posted by Trancespire@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 87 comments

awardwinningbanana@reddit

That's cool, but that's an American name for the sauce that isn't used in the UK. I've never seen 'marinara sauce' on a menu, and 'pasta marinara' is a seafood pasta. OP was asking Brits what the sauce is called.

Not mixed vegetables, just tomatoes and herbs. I think there is a brand of ragu in the UK, while it also says 'bolognese sauce', there is no meat in it and is just tomato based.

I'm not saying it's right, just what some Brits might say! Some others may just say 'tomato sauce' or 'red sauce', which confusingly is also what some people call ketchup.

Has anyone ever not enjoyed their own wedding? For any reason? And what was that reason?

Posted by CobaltBlue389@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 190 comments

awardwinningbanana@reddit

Im not married, but: A good friend of mine is in a very happy relationship and when they finally got married after about 15 years, she had a bad time! Too nervous to eat, hated doing the photo shoots and stuff, didn't like the way she looked in a single photo etc. Not sure if she'd built it up in her head and was disappointed, or what. Personally, me and the other friends present had a WONDERFUL day and thought that everything on the day was brilliant and that she looked gorgeous.
