Take a vacation from each other. Not cheating. Just a break from each other. Sounds like there’s no space to miss each other to remember why you deal with the arguments.

Florida is a shit show. Not the time to be looking for IT roles here. Which is crazy considering all the development we’ve been getting with the Defense sector.

Gotcha. Had 2g recently of golden teacher and I did feel a very slight 1/10 inflammation on my side but not too bad. Worth! Lmao but liver health is still new to me. My levels are trending down after making changes and almost back in the acceptable range. Good luck to you with health man! Shit sucks

The frank reality is that the people writing your checks don’t want you to sound/behave/represent yourself as egotistical. So just don’t make it easy for them by giving them a reason to give you obstacles in your life. It’s a form of self preservation.

Yeah if you’re not willing to play the political office games to gain leverage for raises and such, then better to move on. Staying stagnant and doing nothing isn’t a good choice.

How do you guys deal with executives or doctors or high level people when stuff is not your fault at all but take it like it is and work just becomes more stressful how are some people able to let it all go

Let them yell and scream. They aren’t tasking you with anything and following up with you, right? They’ll just huff their chests and wait to see you “fret about”. Right? So take that knowledge and act. Role play. You now are in control. Work your 8 hours or whatever they are and not a minute more. You are quiet quitting. Enjoy the challenges when they are as opportunities to become smarter and better.. not as misery spreading its woe to you and your situation. Take back control. Seriously.

If I may ask a question regarding my understanding; Intune page > Devices > Configuration Policies set and configured the way you want them for HfB. Skip completely the HfB settings available under Intune > Devices > Enrollment (?) because that’s just for the autopilot deployment not the Work / School Account method (?) to get devices enrolled. The on premises dc MUST have GPO set up to Cloud Kerberos. (?) And that should be it (?) am I missing something? I have ADFS in my environment so maybe that’s getting in the way or perhaps my above is missing something?

OP. I’m in FL and my wife wants to move to Spain. I do too. It took me some time to get to it but returning to Florida after spending 3 weeks (1 in Spain, 1 in Italy, 1 in France) of delicious food, air quality, and people and returning to the South… Florida… but not South Florida.. no. The South, Florida. And I see now the poison. Not to say FL is terrible but yeah it’s no longer the world of rubbing shoulders with community and keeping an eye on outsiders. It’s just ideologies crashing out because no one knows how to communicate because religion is so heavy here that anything not of us is “Satan”. Plus the traffic is ass. Don’t come back. Or, take a vacation to come back that is long enough to hate it.

This is easy. Go around your boss and have conversations with users and encourage them to tell their boss to put in requests with IT to upgrade to 16gb ram. Shrug when your boss gets rammed by requests forcing him to adapt/approve upgrades. If anyone ever asks why this isn’t already happening do. Not. Throw. Him. Under. The. Bus. You simply say it’s not your budget nor your department, you’re just making an statement/observational fact.

Sharepoint only works if users take the time to learn and understand how to use the tool. Otherwise it becomes an uncontrolled mess of data that someone, eventually, will likely have to make sense of. That’ll be expensive. Or suffer the inefficiencies of everyone using it wrong but no one is willing to stop using it wrong because it’s more convenient and faster to just drag and drop and move on lol!

What did you do/study for to move from ~$75k to ~$110k?

In this environment which everyone knows has been worrisome will soon come to an end so long as rates go down and the game starts over again until the next bubble. I typically am gone by 3 years. Typically. But I’ve found a place that I can maneuver in, finally. Aslong as it’s flowing then I’ll keep putting up with the burn out.

What did you do/study for to move from ~$75k to ~$110k?

Synstitute@reddit

I don’t automate nor have I explored that piece of my career yet. Daily responsibilities are keeping the wheels spinning and helping people out. Exploring tools and product demos to maybe introduce into our environment. If a router goes down? Figure it out. If a switch goes down? Figure it out. If a device is compromised and someone is clearly remoted in through a back door? Figure it out. All things I’ve had to deal with. Absolutely hate dealing with incidents. But it’s not really an enterprise in the sense that leadership “cares” (unfortunately)… it’s more about maintaining high availability above all else. So there’s no after report I need to create regarding the incident or anything. Projects include having transitioned our disaster recovery into a proper solution with Veeam as opposed to old school physical media. Proof of concept that didn’t go through of Citrix VDI as we needed some solution for shared kiosks that are actively worked with. Nonetheless started it from start to finish digesting documentation and putting all together myself. Just some off the top examples. So if that’s the case- you may wonder, how am I where I am. The answer is the environment. It’s always the environment. When a place is close knit and difficult for you to grow in.. how do you grow? “Well run” orgs will have a structure in place to make it evenhanded. Small/medium businesses typically aren’t well run and are typically subject to bias and toxicity by those running things. So if you become “indispensable” (we all know a business can survive without us.) in the sense that it’d be more painful to lose you than to pay you… then now you have leverage. It’s your choice to use the leverage or not. I grew up and decided to “walk the walk” and own my skills today instead of pining for more knowledge for some “okay now I’m good enough” sensation that will NEVER come because I have imposter syndrome like the rest of you.

I’m still in newbie territory of just 2 years of real systems admin land and I have been exposed to the walk and the talk early on (27m). Just leveraged my way into 140k a year hybrid as it ops sys admin. Team of 4 if we include the director (my boss). Definitely do not skimp on your technical training but make time for charisma and learning to negotiate and the confidence that comes with doing these two well.

Thanks for sharing that. When I encounter difficult topics I just "accept" what it is/how it is without actually ever achieving "sense". Makes it easier to just accept things then continue to fight with my own mind to figure out "how". How doesn't really matter.
