Am I right in thinking that you can actually put £20k in a cash ISA and another £20k in a stocks and shares ISA Tracking an index should be relatively safe that you won't lose money and you will probably make more than in your cash ISA. Or you could use something like Wealthify. Also, if you have a partner could you give them £40k of it, so you can actually invest all of it tax free.

Cat owners in flats — do you ever feel guilty they never go outside?

My view is don't have cats at all. If you let them outdoors they kill a lot of wildlife. Most people don't know that they kill thousands of times more birds than wind turbines. If you keep them indoors then that isn't great for their happiness. Either way you are feeding them a meat diet which is high carbon in carbon (300 kg of carbon equivalent).

Do you use British Z (zed) or American Z (zee) when saying 'genz'?

Interesting. Also I have found that Scottish people use American words in some cases where the English don't. For example e.g. couch for sofa (particularly in Glasgow) and janitor for caretaker. These may be more old-fashioned words but I'm not sure.

It might be a proper noun but not a name. I don't think you need to change pronunciation of proper nouns. Americans say ad-ID-as, and we say AD-id-as. We say Nike and Americans say NikEE, Some countries say Porsch-E and some say Porshe. We British all say Maryland wrong (they say Mer-ruh-lund or Mer-lund) and they would also say we say Los Angel-ees wrong and Roosevelt, and they all say Edinburgh wrong like Edin-bo-ro. It doesn't really matter. I am sticking with Gen Zed as I that sits better with me.

Zeeebra is actually more common among older people in the UK, and more common in Scotland. David Attenborough has always said zeebra. It's like eeconomics or economics - either is fine in the UK. But Americans will always say zeeebra.

People are saying invite as a noun instead of invitation a lot these days. That's very American. ,e.g. "Thank you for the invite to the party", or "I'll send you an invite to the meeting."

This is similar to how most people use the second-furthest away toilet cubicle. They think most people use the furthest away one as they think it is the cleanest. The second-furthest away one ends up being the most used so isn't the cleanest (or maybe it actually be as these people care more about cleanliness than people who use the other cubicles).

Sorry, what I was trying to say was that people are more likely to choose lower numbers. So if you choose higher numbers, you're less likely to share it if you win the jackpot. This means that although the chances of winning the jackpot are the same whatever numbers you choose, you are likely to win more if you choose higher numbers. e.,g. thousands of people choose 1,2,3,4,5,6 every week. If you do this you will share the jackpot so much you won't win as much as if you choose a more random pattern. Also don't choose numbers in a row or a line on the form you fill in for the same reason.

What can increase your odds of winning more is choosing high numbers, as you will be less likely to share. People will choose low numbers as low numbers are more likely to meaningful to them. Especially worth choosing numbers 32 or above (people will choose dates of birth and you can only have 31 days in a month). People may also choose things like house numbers, and there are more low numbers of these as some streets are short.

I didn't know your neighbour was a farmer...in this case it might be better to buy from him. But sorry to be pedantic but an important fact is that I wouldn't expect you to drive 15 minutes to Tesco to buy one cucumber :) More likely, you would be buying it as part of a large shop when you're going anyway, and the footprint of the one cucumber is quite small. Much as I hate the plastic wrapping, there's a lot of evidence that overall there is much less thrown away because of it. It's different for other things (e.g. pretty unnecessary for apples), but for cucumbers, it's particularly effective.

The carbon impact of growing your own veg is absolutely huge compared with buying it from a supermarket. Here are some things you may not have thought of: \- Neighbour has to spend proportionally more of everything to make just a few cucumber than if grown in the farm. Soil, tools, etc. \- If he/she uses peat-based compost then that is one of the most carbon-dense substances on earth. \- Transport miles (food miles) are much less significant than people think in terms of overall carbon footprint of food (typically 5% of a food's emissions). \- Farmers will use fertilisers, pesticides seeds in bulk and use precise machinery which minimises waste. Your neighbour probably buys small quantities, he/she may overapply and is likely to discard a much higher proportion of the cucumbers.

That's a very good point. Also, the two reasons why I chose to lease, which weren't to do with fuel prices or battery degredation concerns. \- I was "forced into it" as there were very few available second-hand a couple of years ago. I would never normally lease. I wanted an EV and this was the only way to do it. \- Those cars that were available and affordable for me had a very poor range. I could only get a Leaf or Zoe. Next time I will buy second-hand, as I believe that's the most sensible option.

OK, but also important to note that most EVs are leased for about four years. These are now coming onto the second-hand market in increasing numbers every year so the overall supply of second-hand EVs is increasing, which will help.

Sorry I'm not following. You're saying that as people understand that EVs are worth it they will switch to buying second hand EVs. Shouldn't this mean that they don't depreciate as much?

I don't think fuel prices are actually high. In 2000, a litre of unleaded was 78.5 pence, which is 168 pence in today's prices. Now it is about 158 pence a litre, so even with this shock it is relatively cheaper to fill up than in 2000. Plus cars are more fuel efficient than they were.

£1.40 is really cheap, so shouldn't be the benchmark. This is like when people say that interest rates are high and should be back to 0.5%. They forget that actually 4% or so should be the norm.

Why do you say this? There are more EVs being bought every year (even if the targets aren't being met), so there is also more supply of used EVs every year. So with more supply of used EVs, their prices will come down.

In my opinion, this was a huge waste of resources. What is wrong with people when they care so much about one lost sheep and they don't care at all that 14 million lambs are killed in the UK each year. Sheep themselves are a huge waste of resources and are not needed in the first place. They destroy hills where there could be trees and wildlife.

I think spending more better. I would recommend Isla, Frog, Woom, Forme or Squish in that order. Islas and Frogs hold their value and you can sell them pretty much what you paid for them if getting them second hand. They are also easier to learn to ride on as are lighter and better quality.
