What’s the single most important factor that helps a car reach 300k+ miles?

Oil changes by far. Sure you could go overboard with every other little fluid at every single interval but I mean in the grand scheme of things if you change your transmission fluid at least once or twice in the life of the car it should be fine if you have no leaks. My bmw diff with 315k miles on it and original fluid still looked brand new even after drifting and daily driving around. I’m still not gonna change it, yet, lol

Dumb question but how can I make my car have one REALY loud back fire or multiple really loud backfires instead of multiple quieter backfires?

I wouldn’t go as far as saying they don’t know what they’re doing when people do that. While I agree it makes the car handle like shit, it does take some effort and knowledge to get it done

Looking at picking up a car in Canada and bringing it into the US. Yes, it's over 25 years old. I live in Ohio, where it'd likely be titled. What do the steps look like versus a standard private sale? Do I just pay some sort of import tax and title it as usual?

I haven’t had a license for three years now because I was stupid with cars, I still drove but what put the nail in the coffin was actually getting caught semi recently. My car was loud as fuck and drew lots of attention, call me whatever but you can still have a sick ass car with a stock exhaust. Unless you’re just removing actual restrictions like a catalytic converter which I’m not against then I’d have kept my car how it was vs how it is, loud ≠ fast nor cool

Most of that money is in upgrades not repairs, and some preventative maintenance. The only necessary repair I’ve done was the thermostat, Csb, and the subframe ripped out once. Other than oil changes and that it’s been a good car, I’m at 346k miles now

Just be patient, don’t act right in the moment when buying a car because it’s nice and shiny and new to you. That’s when you risk going a mile down the road and something happens. Always sleep on it and when the time is right you’ll know

In theory, it’s that simple. How hard it would be comes down to your fabrications skills and what you define as hard. If you can come up with a way to mount the engine and transmission and do some wiring it’ll work. Just gotta use your brain

E46 here with 340k miles and 25 years on it. Just got done with a track day drift event and cruised home nice n easy. Takes me to the track, work, and back. Maintenance wise I’m only ~$2k deep. Altogether though… $10k deep with the go fast goodies. Car was $750 and I swear that’s the best money I ever spent

If you can afford to put down even $3k on a car just buy an old 2000’s Honda or Toyota or something tf? Simple, easy, effective. My ex had an old civic and we neglected a coolant hose and overheated that thing over and over limping back to the house, stopping every 15 minutes to put a water bottle into the radiator. Thing ran for about 30k more miles before a deer took it out. Actually, she was still able to turn it on after they flipped it back over.

I used to drive way too fast at night was my issue. Also idk I just installed the clutch and I think I messed it up by not properly breaking it in, it’s not slipping horribly but it definitely is slipping some. I just want my car to be ā€œniceā€. On the inside, mechanically, everything is nice and tight(except the clutch), but when you look at it, it looks clapped. Sure does run like a Swiss watch though šŸ‘

I can relate a bit. I had put off so much work I needed to do because my ex really liked things that weren’t free, or at home, and I had to be there. Nowadays I keep myself happily busy wrenching on my car while she stalks my instagram. You’re gonna love it dude, I’m $10k and 70k miles deep into this $750 car I bought two years ago to replace the first iteration which was clapped about the same and tragically taken, it still lives on in this car though because I used a loooot of parts that were in it for the current one, like a lot a lot lol. I bet your fixed up car is a whole new beast when you get it back, you’ll fall in love all over again
