What "cereal" is served in a Full English Breakfast?

Posted by johannisbeeren@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 233 comments

Sasstellia@reddit

Cereal isn't part of a Full English. It's all fried or cooked stuff. There can be. Bacon Eggs Sausage Hash Browns Baked Beans. Personally I skip them. Black Pudding Toast and Butter. Tomatoes Mushrooms If he's got to take cereal. Pick what he likes. Otherwise Baked Beans are the only travel possible thing. And they're not fun for a take in item.

Was it actually a thing in Britain “back in the day” for people to have all their teeth removed and get dentures relatively young, even when they still had some healthy teeth or is that one of those exaggerated stories?

Posted by Top_Mirror211@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 746 comments

Sasstellia@reddit

Going by something Paul O'Grady said. His mother had her teeth pulled out and used to leave the dentures on a cushion on the sofa, to surprise him. When he came home with girls. The 1950s or early 1960s for his mother. Whenever the NHS came out. It sounds like it happened in the early days of the NHS. Their teeth were not always good, maybe, and the NHS would give you the surgery and dentures for free. Probabely made sense at the time. My mother had bad teeth when younger. Possiblely due to untreated Celiac Disease affecting her health. At some point she had her teeth removed and got dentures. No idea when. The late 1960s to 1970s? That was heath reasons. The NHS was up and running by then.

Anti Guy Fawkes. You burn a effigy of him on a bonfire. It's This is what happens when you try and explode Parliament. Observe the burning. Don't do it. People like Bonfires and burning a Guy is fun. And Bonfire Toffee and Bonfire Potatoes is fun. It's what it sounds like. Potatoes and toffee mixture or something, in foil. You pull them from the fire.

They're beans from cans. And presumabley there's baking involved in Baked Beans. Or it's phonetics. There's lots of brands. There's zero need to make them from scratch.

Take your passport, etc. And go to A&E. Proof of why you're here may be needed. But I don't think so. Not for emergencies. If you can get a Taxi or Uber do. Better than waiting for a ambulance. But if you're too sick they're going to have to send a ambulance or a paramedic car. Just get there by car and go to reception. You sound like you are a urgent case. It'll be quicker. Google for the nearest A&E. Or they'll decide for you in the ambulance.

I have no shame. I can't ride a bike. I don't get them. How they stay up. Not going try that. If I tried I'd put both feet up and fall over on the side. I can't drive either. I have no desire to be in charge of a massive machine that could kill someone or worse. And they're expensive. Some things I am better off not doing. I get it if the vehicle has a base of some kind. Segways even. I get that. I get Scooters to a point. I'd never ride one of those stupid electric scooters or a manual. The foot pushing is baffling on the manual. How is this making you go faster?!

Your cousin is just being a batch. Ignore her. Blonde isn't that special. It's not as common as the other colours in some places. But it's not better. She's being a bully and bullies don't make sense. Ignore her or tell her STFU. Block her out and act like she's not there if you are near her.

Ignore race, job, etc. People are people. If you find friends or not, is up to fate. I am easy come, easy go, on friends. Work is rarely the place to find them. Keep it professional. Just act normally and if you find friends, so be it. Maybe you can find friends in interests you like? Join book clubs, anime, groups, etc.

If you have a (human) loved one who was buried, and their grave isn't far from where you live but you've never visited the grave since the person was buried, why not?

I would not touch HSBC with a sulphuric acid coated bargepole. They're scum. I am disgusted and will boycott anyone who speaks well if them. I already was creeped out by him. He looks like he jacks off to saving money. Live on TV. He's edging the entire time. But from the moment he promoted a HSBC product. I hated him. Lying, vile, scumbag. He is so obviously paid up. There is NOTHING good about HSBC. Their entire business is garbage and a con. I also boycott him unless it's unavoidable. He's a idiot. He thinks it's good to constantly switch bank accounts to get new customer bonuses. Yes. Such a good idea to deliberately put yourself in limbo with your VERY IMPORTANT WAGES, ETC! Then you have to change ALL your payment details. For what. £100. And it's probabely a gimmick. With a good chance the companies atrocious. And WTF is the obsession with Current Accounts paying interest?! They don't normally give interest. Their purpose is to hold money you use. Don't go saying a perfectly fine bank account is not good because it doesn't have interest! That's not what they are for! And the artificial big deal about Overdrafts. Just don't have a overdraft. That's it. Current accounts do not come with a Overdraft of any kind, by default. Just have a account with the money you have and that's it. He comes across as really spoilt and demanding. While also being obsessed by being a cheapskate. With no regard to the quality of the products bought.

I don't trust it. I don't like buying online. I would rather buy in person. I hate doing returns. Most things don't fit. OPs ASOS thing wasn't bad. They waited for discounts.

Location. England is the centre landmass. And has less access to the sea. So the population has not had time to make recipes using seafood as much. Scotland has two quarters in the sea side.

No. I didn't care. I still don't care. It wasn't that big a deal and it was overblown into a celebrity disaster and used as excuse for a war. In the UK there's been loads of explosions. And no one makes a big deal over it. They rebuild and capture the bastards who did it. However much one sickos tried to make a similar thing to that thing from some random attack. It was just a building that no one cared about. Not even in the country. It was all hype. Most countries don't give a frack about exploded buildings. Unless someone they know is in them. There's no tears shed. All terrorist attacks are equal in horribleness.

Why don't the British wear sun hats?

Posted by LittleBookOfQualm@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 1035 comments

Sasstellia@reddit

The weather isn't hot long enough for it to be a learnt behaviour. And stubbornness. Some are every stubborn. I wear sunhats. A floppy straw hat right now. I love hats. Some wear hats. Some don't. If fashion was different they would wear hats. They did in the past. But since fashion moved away from hats all the time. It isn't driven into minds. Sometimes summer isn't long long enough to learn to wear them at a instinctive level. Not joking. There have been times warm weather has been two weeks and it rains the rest of the summer. Two weeks isn't enough to learn instinctively. Personally. I always wear sun hats. Because I get sunstroke easily.

Why people wear parkas and puffer jackets when in hot weather?

Posted by lunayarena@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 342 comments

Sasstellia@reddit

There could be infinite reasons. Some are not from the UK and not adapted to the weather yet. It's colder than some countries and warmer than others. It's a look. A stupid look. They're from places that are colder and then traveled to a warmer area. They dressed for their location but the area they went to is warmer. And they have to go back to their home so the outfit will make sense again. Also the nights are colder. They could also have got it wrong. I live in a rural town on a mountain. And the place I live is clearly colder than the centre. There's literally a line you cross. I have underestimated the weather in summer a few times. The weather changes really fast and you have to be prepared.
