Are American colleges really that fun and party-like as shown in the movies or on social media?

We used to collect money from people in the dorm and go to the liquor store with $500 for party weekends. We built a giant throne of beer cases that people took pictures in. We were drunk from Thursday to Monday morning every week minimum. Best time of my life. Just total chaos. Graduated with a 3.7.

There’s a pretty strong argument to be made that people just make shit up on the internet and people think it's real because they're too lazy to google it

This is by no means standard. Not by a long shot. Ask somebody in NYC for example if their building has a pool, vollyball court, tennis court, and playground. at least a pool. so not a pool, volleyball court, tennis court, and playground?

Lemme guess, you planted a bunch of stuff that's labor intensive to maintain and now complain about having to maintain all this labor intensive stuff. I have a half acre and I spend maybe three hours a month maintaining it in the summer months. People put in all this shit like flower beds and then complain about all the time they have to spend on their flower beds. If only there were an answer to this riddle.

All those hidden costs just get transferred to the higher rent costs and taxes for much less space. No thanks. A leaf blower is a one time cost of less than $50. Paying an extra grand a month to live in a closet is a recurring cost. Rent is pissing money down a hole, mortgages have equity.

Then it's a wife-created problem. *But my wife likes an actual yard, not just a glorified soccer pitch with a house planted squarely in the middle.*  So what do you have now? No yard? Or a glorified soccer pitch with a condo squarely in the middle? *I live in a part of the country that gets 55+ inches of rain a year* Then why on all that is holy were you "watering the lawn and assorted flower beds" ***every weekend?*** Do you not see these were all problems you willingly created for yourself?

Self created problems. See the person that responded to you. "I hated maintaing all my flower beds". Well don't plant flower beds in the first place, dummy.

Well that's 100% on you. I don't do any of that other than mow the lawn every other week. If you plant a flower bed you have to maintain it. Nobody is forcing you to plant flower beds, plural, in the first place. a solid thirty minutes of edging, that's insane. Literal insanity. This was a self-created problem. This is like saying, "I hate living in apartments because I have to repain the interior every weekend."
