It might be big, heavy, and a bit awkward but my CZ-52 has to be one of my favorite handguns. I love the way it looks, and it's interesting roller locking system. It makes some nice fireballs as well.

Did you change the firing pin to an aftermarket? I know the original cast ones are prone to fail, I always liked them as well and certainly would like to have one as they are just feel good in your hand.

I agree with, people are a finite resource, the fewer there are the more valuable they are. It takes a lot of time, and effort to create more of them and bring them to the point they can contribute. That and things change economically to, one person can't design, source and build complicated systems in a practical manner at that point, whole communities come together to make things easier and simpler and safer for everyone. History teaches us that if anything humans wonderfully capable of adaptation, we arrived here at society today through that method.

Looking for a fight is a great way to find one, but also fighting ups your dying chance significantly. Those people die early, or find out they don't actually have the stomach/skills required for such things.

If a geomagnetic storm caused a global collapse of the Earth’s power grid and banking system, how would you survive in this post-technology world and what would you need?

You are making a few assumptions on nuclear reactors though. Just because the grid beyond suddenly goes off line it doesn't lead to the plant failing like that even right away. The fear of the USSR and than terrorism in the US means extensive shielding and containment for the reactor, multiple redundant cooling systems, large quantities of fuel in anticipation of keeping the reactor from becoming critical. Nothing is impossible, but there has been a number of scenarios planned for in that, and just because the grid fails beyond the reactor doesn't mean the reactor fails.

In your opinion, what is the most iconic semi-auto pistol design? (Image isn’t exhaustive just some top candidates)

Lol the p 38 is the abridged design between the toggle lock and the slide design, don't get me wrong I realize the luger has its shortcomings especially as military arm, it's just always been extremely recognizable. That and compared to the Browning design its so strange, it's look and design are very different, I want to say other than a small number of rifles the toggle lock never saw other use.

Agreed it's design died with it, but 50 years in military use is still a long time for a design. Also it's just very recognizable, probably owing to the death of any design like it leaving it as an odd survivor. They did make several million of them all told though. It's development did pave the way for the 9mm parabellum round too, which love or hate the round is extremely popular in service and civilian use.

I always lived in the middle of nowhere, so there was always that we are on our own mentality. Ems/leo response times are long, no one is going to solve the problem for you so he ready. My grandparents lived through the great depression, grandpa was a Ww2 vet in a long line of farmers as, so the land and resources coupled with knowledge certainly allowed for a head start over a more urban /built up environment.

I bought a Russian sks off gunbroker a few years ago and had it sent to one of the local shops. I go in to do the paperwork for it and the old guy working the counter proceeds to spend 20 minutes going on about how it's a communist pos and an M1a is so much better. Dude just run the paperwork take my $20 dollars I didn't come in for an opinion, it would be different if I asked what you think or what would be best. No I collect guns I have 2 M1a rifles and a garand already, I specifically sought that sks as part of my collection of com bloc guns. Never went back after that will not recommend them either, no different than when I'm carrying and someone feels obligated to tell me you should get a glock or a sig etc. Fuck it I'll carry my luger if I feel like why do people including gun shop owners/employees need to add their 2 cents?

Why are so many conservatives pro Israel?

I agree they would be, it astounds me how the idea of freedom is so narrow for so many. Our inherent freedoms allow us to be whatever our do whatever we like as long as it doesn't impede the freedom of others. I don't understand the want for legislation from every side to define freedom as only their version, I don't want be gay or have an abortion or smoke Crack but I don't understand why if someone wants to they shouldn't be able to. I think a great number of US citizens fail to realize they act like busy body Karens.

Lobbyists are a cog with a very corrupt machines, I'm sure not all have bad intentions or represent organizations with bad intentions, but the road to hell is paved with bad intentions. I just personally find the lobbyists are the bidders to whom the politicians are sold, imagine if our elected leaders had our interests at heart as opposed to their own. I find the term political career to be off putting, everything I do in my own career is to my benefit so why would I expect a politician to not look towards advancing their careee? I'm sorry if I seem very cynical im really not trying to be as I get older I see political leaders almost the same as religious leaders, just out to use the masses for their gain, and it seems as if so many people a blind to it. I have long wondered if our political system has become so corrupt just so the citizenry didn't have to actually think for themselves? I think libertarianisim is far closer to the founders original ideas than this two party polarized nightmare that exists now.

Why do Democratic Politicians Hate Gun Owners?

Really I think it's just because so many on the "liberal" side are pro Palestine, they are simply supporting Israel to aggravate the other side. The GOP seems to just take whatever side opposes the democratic party, much like the debate on DEI.

Why do people claim we’re just “republicans who smoke weed” when we’re so much more than that?

Why didn’t Isreal embrace gun ownership the same way America did by protecting gun ownership

Posted by nimmoisa000@reddit | Firearms | View on Reddit | 266 comments

I suspect it may be due to the period of mandatory Palestine, there where Jewish and Arab militias fighting each other and amongst themselves, while also fighting with British overseers. In effect as a way to limit that after the creation of the state of Israel limiting weapon availability to the public during a time of both internal and external strife, that really in many ways continues to this day would be the goal there.

Are they brain damaged? I see certain law enforcement agencies and states outright refusing to comply, on top of many citizens refusing with lethal force. Oh yeah and that whole constitution, bam immediate lawsuits. Americans really aren't known for willing compliance anyway, ask the British, it remember those things like prohibition, the war on drugs, it just isn't the the American way.

If money is no option I would go with a Sig p226 9mm, I enjoy the FN Hi-power, CZ-75, Beretta 92/M9, 1911s are a mixed bag I enjoy the slim design but there is a great deal of you get what you pay for. I have several glocks there is a huge aftermarket for them giving you an option to customize to your preference. I do agree with several others here that picking a full size auto for ease of practice, 380 ACP can generate alot of felt recoil in small light pistols, with short sight lines making it difficult to to get used to.

Finger on the trigger and everything....

They are a good pistol, I love mine! I always carry full size because I prefer full size over smaller Pistols, but that probably depends on where you live and what you prefer overall.
