Hey I just bought a Krag at a gun show over the weekend. Mines 1903 too but it’s been sporterized with a new stock and Lyman peep sight. Haven’t shot it yet how’s it shoot?

Thekinzlerbros@reddit (OP)

Idk haven’t got any ammo since I bought it.

Holy shit that garand looks like you dig it up from Utah Beach last week. But I’d take it or the Winchester (model 1873?) are definitely my soft spot.
View on Reddit #13401547

Thekinzlerbros@reddit (OP)

Well it was found in the red river I restored it myself even fired it. The pitting it so bad. It only fired once. The barrel erosion was bad and the cartridge got so stuck I had to hammer it out with my cleaning rod. I did not shoulder fire it either that’s dumb. I vise fired it. It all on my YouTube channel same name as this name

Adventurous_Ad409@reddit

That’s actually a really awesome story and such a cool find. I wonder how it ended up in there? I’ll definitely check out your channel
View on Reddit #13410919

Thekinzlerbros@reddit (OP)

I’m not sure what it ended up in the river it was not loaded at all but the cleaning rod kit was still in the butt plate too. Maybe the owner was sick of seeing it from the past wartime and threw it off a bridge. It was found in North Dakota in fargo I’m not sure the exact location of the red river. I have found a few other myself one was a ruger blackhawk with four still loaded. Turned it into police and they have it back after six months and I restored it
View on Reddit #13425440

Adventurous_Ad409@reddit

That’s awesome. I watched some of your videos. It’s pretty cool what you’re able to do bringing those guns back. The cleaning kit still being in the stock was really cool.

View on Reddit #13325351

I seem to gravitate towards obscure cartridges So reloading makes sense for those cartridges You don’t really save money on common ones like 9mm but when you get ones like 7.5 French at 1.40 apiece you save some money

It spent decades in a river. Scuba diver found it and I restored it the whole video is on YouTube here. I did not stain the wood either just a sand and linseed oil. https://youtu.be/VUg093Gxpm0?si=YNTzOJracjn39Cnt here is the m1 garand restore

View on Reddit #13331887

Thekinzlerbros@reddit (OP)

Fair point yea I like the slamfire. The Germans said the trench shotgun was a war crime. I mean it would clear out a trench pretty easy and with the bayonet as well. Just brutal

View on Reddit #13332005

Thekinzlerbros@reddit (OP)

Yea me too laid a pretty penny for it too. Can’t wait to fire it. Might vise fire it first who knows how long it has been since fired. I had to pay a lot for some 38-40 black powder
View on Reddit #13332037

linkslice@reddit

If you’re worried about it a gunsmith can inspect it and tell you if it’s safe before you blow it up. I don’t imagine black powder 38-40 really has the power to blow it up. But I’m just a guy on the internet. I’d take it to a pro.

View on Reddit #13331422

popeye44@reddit

Yea, I think collection wise they'd be great. I've always liked that 1897, a collector I knew when I was really poor, probably had 15 of them, some were museum pieces he purchased a museums closed. I wouldn't mind one I could shoot and one I wouldn't.
