UK Professionals, what’s your struggle ?

Work in engineering consultancy. 10 years. Work closely with supporting local sectors. Biggest gripe is that almost all local authorities promote within and results in people who are horrendously inept making decisions on 10s millions of budgets. Had one combined authority spend 4m on public fees on a feasibility study to build a new train station 500m south from an existing station as it was closer to their offices. 4m of taxpayers fee.

I never watched it growing up however my wife's family are hardcore on it so I've gotten into the last 10+ years or so. My feeling of it is that its a good night thats enjoyable, but its just so political (i.e the scoring) that most just switch off before the results.

Absolute bollocks. Stop the pity party. Your still a young man with your life ahead of you. Focus on losing weight and spend more time outside. Don't want to go to the gym? That's fine. Go for a walk. Do 10-15k steps a day. Try to eat better if budget allows.

Opposite-Scheme-8804@reddit

To be honest; Amazon is comfortably the best delivery system I've dealt with (for the customer element). Good updates, easy to get in touch with customer service. I have to add detailed notes to the drivers for my previous address and they followed it each time to be honest.

We have members who are victims of domestic abuse. I believe 99.9% of people would think it's barbaric to allow a male abuser to attend a group for vulnerable female domestic abuse victims. The same mentality should be applied if the roles are switched.

I remember as clear as day when I seen them as a kid. We were on a school trip and seen them. My class spoke about it non stop for weeks, pretending to be them on the playground. I'm in my 30s now. There isn't many things that I remember so fondly from my childhood. I'd be sad if they were decommissioned, particularly when you look at all the waste we have.

Guys of the UK. How seriously do you take going to the barber? How much do you pay and what sort of barber do you go to?

Opposite-Scheme-8804@reddit

I pay 20 quid. Been going to same bloke for years. As a busy dad, it's nice to have that 30-45 minutes of actual me time. Chatting absolute rubbish to the barber and talking about families etc.

Aston in Birmingham was an eye opener. Was there for work. I travel alot for work and often like to go for a walk when stopping overnight. I spoke to the hotel concierge whether there was anywhere nice nearby. She suggested an taxi into the city centre and get a taxi to the hotel door on the way back.

Did anyone who used to be a keen footballer QUIT Sunday league football?

Posted by discoveredunknown@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 44 comments

Opposite-Scheme-8804@reddit

I quit in my late 20s; similar to yourself, my knee was in tatters. It was actually a conversation with my dad that made me quit; my wife was expecting our first child and he just told me that his greatest memories with me and my brother were playing football/cricket after school every day, and if I kept playing, my knee might mean that I can't do that with my son. I texted my manager the next day saying that I was done.

Why does everyone living the UK hate it?

Opposite-Scheme-8804@reddit

100%. We've had a rough few years (probably longer) but the UK is genuinely an incredible place to live. And it is significantly better to be poor in the uk than to be poor 95% of the countries around the world.
