CEO gave a new hire admin access to everything on day one because he "trusts him"

Every single access right, every single shared mailbox, everything, only in writing with the assumption of full responsibility of the person who requests it (i.e. a supervisor), otherwise there is simply nothing.

But I'm back, far too few tools, too few apps, too many compatibility issues (especially when you work for a global corporation), too many compromises, far too many concessions to the hardware, simply far too much hassle, and all that for a benefit that's more than questionable compared to standard hardware from "whatever company," at half the price.

Got fired and I deserved it.

If not, AI would become some kind of senseless; there’s always the promise of reducing costs in such great projects like AI.

That depends very much on where you live and what the cost of living is (low/medium/high), and then it also depends very much on whether it's a real stroke of luck to have received an offer at all as a complete beginner; there are an incredible number of highly experienced professionals out there right now who are also desperately looking for a job.

Exactly, and that's why the real sticking point isn't that the man acted like a "wild pig," but rather that someone gave him access to put on his show in the first place. He would have gained detailed knowledge from his previous work as a service provider, and there is certainly more than enough documentation on his side, which he could have read at his leisure as part of his preparations.

Someone who clearly had significantly increased rights, which makes things even more difficult here. Some lunatic gave him an admin login over the phone, which is not only stupid, but also grossly negligent.

*LOL That’s also perfectly fine, but I can at least take a worry away from you: once you’ve dealt with it, whether you want it now or not, they really work very well, and are very reliable.

Olleye@reddit

Yes, but it's often the case that you didn't "really" want to know exactly how certain things work, and then everything turns out differently than you had "planned." No one wants to deal with the ins and outs of individual printer types, but when production/operations require that exact printer model, sometimes you just have no choice to.

Its a rolls Royce but I've never seen a 2 door with that really long boot, was this done from factory or modified? Either way I still can't see why haha

Olleye@reddit

What you spotted is almost certainly a Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow (or Corniche-based) one-off conversion into a pickup/“ute”, and it’s not a factory model. Rolls-Royce never built pickups, these were coachbuilt conversions, often done in the UK when a damaged car was cheaper to repurpose than restore. In fact, there’s a well-documented example in Britain: Clark & Carter Restorations (Essex) rebuilt a Silver Shadow into a two-door pickup for Lord Bamford (head of JCB). It was originally converted in the 1980s, then completely re-coached around 2014–15. The styling, Tudor Grey paint, whitewall tires, chrome side trim, matches closely with what you photographed. So, unless there’s another near-identical build, your photo is most likely of that Bamford/Clark & Carter car or a very similar UK coachbuilt pickup conversion.

I didn't know this vehicle even existed until just now, thank you very much. Oh, I just read that it's Giorgetto Giugiaro / Italdesign behind it, of course.

1997 Alfa Romeo Scighera concept

Posted by TurboDeez_Nuts_54@reddit | WeirdWheels | View on Reddit | 28 comments

Olleye@reddit

I've looked into it, and it's complicated, or rather convoluted: First (1988/89) > Marcello Gandini (known for the Miura, the Countach and the Diablo, among others) Second > Giorgetto Giugiaro (Italdesign) Third (final) > Gianpaolo Benedini (actually an architect/interior designer of the Bugatti factory) So you're right, I forgot the architect/interior designer (which I found really exciting) in the list.

Posted by TurboDeez_Nuts_54@reddit | WeirdWheels | View on Reddit | 28 comments

Olleye@reddit

Well, who's really surprised? Not only was the Bugatti EB112 also designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro (Italdesign) back in 1993, but Giugiaro (Italdesign) also adapted/smoothed the extreme design of the EB110 (based on the work of Marcello Gandini), making him the creator of the final design of the Bugatti EB110. And if we then look at the designers of modern Bugattis, such as Hartmut Warkuß, Jozef Kaban, Achim Anscheidt and their teams (e.g. Etienne Salome), then all of them (really all of them!) have an indirect or direct link to Italdesign, and thus also to Giugiaro, without exception.

Exotruck

Posted by Ellisrsp@reddit | WeirdWheels | View on Reddit | 10 comments

Olleye@reddit

Exotruck, yeah… and it’s street legal. It’s basically a scratch-built tube chassis with Subaru WRX STI guts (EJ257 turbo engine, AWD, 6-speed manual). We’re talking about \~500 hp in a \~1,200 kg frame with almost zero body panels. Everything’s exposed: cage, suspension, intercooler, dual seats, race harnesses, all business. Built by Exotruck LLC out of Pennsylvania, originally as a one-off, but there are a few out there now. Some have sold for $35k+ at auction. It’s titled as a “custom truck,” which somehow makes it legal. Saw one listed with under 1,500 miles and it looked nearly identical to this one, lime green powder coat and all. Honestly? It’s like a track toy got lost and ended up in traffic. And I kinda love it.

The Dualatron By Paul Bacon Kustoms

Posted by Ebonystealth@reddit | WeirdWheels | View on Reddit | 28 comments

Olleye@reddit

Ah, the one and only Dualatron, built by Paul Bacon in the UK. Total one-man custom job. It started out as a freaking Citroën BX (yeah, seriously), and he turned it into something straight out of a sci-fi comic. He kept the drivetrain but scrapped the rest, then hand-built the body out of fiberglass. The design is nuts, smooth, weird curves, tucked wheels, crazy custom interior. He even made his own steering wheel. Only thing he didn’t make himself was the gauge cluster. And the best part? He did the whole damn thing by himself in his garage. No shop crew, no sponsors, just him, some tools, and a hell of a lot of time. Welding, sanding, painting, wiring, all this damned stuff /freaking work is done only by him. He’s done other builds too, like the Cosmotron, which looks like a retro-futuristic bubble car, and the Automatron, which is basically a steampunk V8 hot rod with bomber cockpit parts. Super creative stuff. But the Dualatron was his first big hit. There’s some great videos on YouTube if you look up Paul Bacon Kustoms, he’s got a series called Dualatron Returns where he upgrades it years later. Definitely not the average show car, but if someone's into one-offs and wild garage builds, this guy’s stuff really is gold.

What’s the reality of the IT job market in 2025?

Lincoln Mark VIII Disappearing Door Concept

Olleye@reddit

I don't think it was a question of technical feasibility, but rather either a patent held by the inventors, which made the function unattractive for purely commercial reasons, or the type of design, which meant that car manufacturers showed little interest. And I personally can't understand this lack of interest, as I find the solution very elegant.

Exactly, even though the mechanism is slightly different, as here the door is not lowered UNDER the body, but INTO the body. However, these doors still work today and were a real experiment at the time.

Yes, that may be true in a way, but you don't normally drive your Rolls Royce or Bentley through mud and slush, so I would see relatively little danger there.

As I look at it, I am genuinely amazed why none of the premium and luxury brands have picked up on this concept and developed it into a unique selling point. I would buy it; it is extremely practical.
