Rate my Balkans itinerary - too ambitious?

I would change it, with this pace you will not see a lot of things (or immerse properly) and neither will you have energy due to your busy schedule. Worst of both if you ask me, you should make a priority list per country (and perhaps skip one altogether).

If you're part of your diaspora, how well do you get alone with the people from your parents' country?

Very well, but we traveled back often and I am very fluent\* for diaspora so I guess that helps with not feeling like an outsider. But I always introduce myself as Dutch when I am in the Balkans, since that's where I am from (born and raised), never feels awkward.

Are South Slavs actually "Slavic" ?

Generally speaking most south slavic populations float around 60%-70% 'pure slavic' dna. The rest being paleo-balkanic as you mentioned. It makes sense that a region on the crossroads of continents would me more mixed. So yes they are majority slavic, but significantly different from the Northern slavs. Not to mention mixing of gypsies/ Greeks/ Turks and other non Slavic modern populations in the area.

Thank you brate, I will check out all your recommendations. It is upsetting to see little attention go towards this cultural heritage indeed. I even asked some of my Serbian friends and family directly about this not a lot could help me with it :(

I know, I just had problems with it in the past so figured to see how it’d be received here (also it’s more about the Orthodox Serbian combination)

Свет је велик, хоћу да га што више видим и упознам. Такође имам доста Албанаца као друштво и сви се међусобно поштујемо.

Split area, though I also speak with clear Serbian (/Belgrade) accent. Mostly it was just rudeness and no hospitality but biggest problem was not being allowed in club and cashier in supermarket not wanting to scan my items/ let me pay :)

Good to hear. That’s the exact reason I asked, I really didn’t have a nice time in Dalmatia (Istra and Zagreb were very welcoming though).

Lol, it was due to some community guideline not being implemented. But I’m not too handy with Reddit so didn’t really understand what was the problem.

Anything is (semi-)legal if you have enough money (or live in the Balkans lol). Serious: police probably has better things to do/ not enough capacity for cases like these.
