Christian Schmidt (BiH High Representative) visiting my uni for an interview — any questions you want to ask him?

Mister Schmidt is visiting my university next week for an open interview. Since I am part of this subreddit for a while I thought it’d be fun for you guys to make questions which I could ask.
So far these are my own:
1- You have the authority to impose laws and remove elected officials, yet you have no democratic mandate from the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina. How do you justify this power in democratic terms?
2- If Bosnia’s political system relies on external intervention to function, how can it ever develop the capacity for organic, self-sustaining governance?

Ask him how he'd push back against the claim that taking a strongly pro-Israel stance regarding the genocide in Gaza makes his advocacy for recognizing the genocide in Srebrenica look flimsy and unprincipled

Why does he support Milorad Dodik and his Russian affiliation so much?

Answer to 1 is easy . He will just answer that the mandate to change / impose laws and officials was granted to him by "Bonn Powers" (The powers stem from the 1997 Bonn Peace Implementation). Legally highly dubious and originally not part of the Dayton peace agreement. On top of him not being approved by United Nations Security Council.
If you look at the use of Bonn powers most of them were using for arm twisting serb leaders into compliance and state ingerency transfers. Basically trying to modify the Dayton peace agreement post war into something less beneficial for Serbs.
Answer to 2 is easy to anticipate as well. He will answer that he wishes to leave as soon as tomorrow but unfortunately he (and his successors) needs to remain there and govern indefinitely until some phantom conditions are met where sunshine and rainbows will glaze over Bosnia. While in reality it is until Serbs (and Croats) in Bosnia can be properly subdued (through peace or force , or through sheer emigration due to general dysfunctionality) and remaining entity jurisdictions stripped away and transferred over to whatever central governing body remains.
I think you will get a more revealing answer by asking him what he would do if he could modify Dayton in any shape or way he would want.
Also this is a must watch. He was tricked into thinking he was talking with Zelensky lol . Ask him which foreign stateman said "Serbia is too big to disappear, and too small to dominate". He mentions that line in that prank call but it would be cool to find out who told him that :D .

I mean Schmidt use of Bonn powers was actually more aimed against Bosniaks regarding FBiH. He did change elections laws somewhat.

If I start listing the ones made in the first 10-15 years after the end of the war the list would be quite long . I can if needed. Not even talking about him specifically here.
Fickle-Message-6143@reddit
Regarding that you are correct.

I don't think those informer style questions will get anything other than an eyeroll reaction and generic PR answer, but whatever, go ahead, be the class clown.

Thank you for asking, it’s really cool of you to do that. Here are some of mine that I would ask:
1) Dayton, entities, and long-term vision
The Dayton Peace Agreement and the current administrative entity structures were widely understood as transitional frameworks. Nearly 30 years later, there still isn’t a clear roadmap toward a more integrated, functional state. Does the international community, particularly the OHR and EU have a concrete long-term vision for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s political structure? If so, what does that transition realistically look like and on what timeline?
2) Sovereignty vs. OHR authority
The OHR holds significant executive powers, including imposing laws and removing elected officials, without a direct democratic mandate. What specific conditions need to be met for BIH to move beyond this system and regain full political sovereignty?
3) Electoral system & discrimination
Multiple European Court of Human Rights rulings have found BIH’s electoral system to be discriminatory toward citizens who do not identify with the three constituent peoples. Why has there been limited progress in implementing these rulings, and what role should the OHR play in ensuring a more inclusive and compliant electoral framework?
4) Natural resources & governance accountability
There are growing concerns that weak governance structures have enabled political actors to exploit BIH’s natural resources without sufficient transparency or accountability. What responsibility, if any, does the OHR bear in addressing these systemic issues, and what mechanisms exist to prevent further misuse of national assets?
5) Genocide denial & rule of law
Despite legal prohibitions on genocide denial, enforcement appears inconsistent and political rhetoric remains divisive. How does the OHR assess its role in upholding these laws and ensuring accountability, and what more can be done to strengthen their consistent application?
6) Administrative complexity, redundancy, and cost
BIH’s governance structure, particularly the division between the Federation & RS, along with multiple layers of government, creates significant administrative redundancy and cost. How does the international community assess the long-term sustainability of this system, and are there any efforts or frameworks being considered to streamline governance while preserving stability?
7) Close it out
What would you do differently today if starting from scratch?
