It had been several years since MASH, he wasn't speaking with the familiat New England accent in this episode, he had a beard and had put on some weight, and the TNG crew did terrific makeup on him. It's not surprising that he wasn't easily recognizable.

I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but in "Half a Life", one of the consoles that Dr. Timicin, played by David Ogden Stiers, is using contains the number "4077", which of course is a reference to the unit in MASH, where Stiers was a regular as Charles Winchester from 1977-1983.

I always thought it was interesting that "Data's Day" was the first time we see Keiko, and she and O'Brien are getting married?! That comes out of nowhere! But it's also Spot's first appearance.

Years ago, I had a toy of it that converted between the main Enterprise and the future one. It wasn't really big, and I don't remember who made it.

Well, at first glance I thought the "P" was a different letter, and I was confused as to why Data wanted to do it with Marge in the back of a van. Yeah, I know: He is programmed in multiple techniques.

It was well into TNG's run, but she also had a small role in the beginning of The Hunt For Red October as Jack Ryan's (British!) wife.

A small mistake: In this scene at the end, you can tell from the cuffs on his sleeves (and the collar, although it's not as obvious) that Geordi is still wearing the uniform from the alternate timeline.

Captain's tea - yes. For whatever reason, they just got the picture of the Enterprise wrong.

He sure did. I knew he directed several episodes of the show (and others), as well as 2 of the movies, but I'm not familiar with which specific episodes he directed; so I didn't realize (or I did and I'd forgotten) that he directed this one.

Even better, if they have just a basic knowledge of the show and they know what the Enterprise looks like, show them Cause and Effect. When it explodes and the opening credits roll, they'll look at you and say, "What the hell?!!"
