Literally like this for me every weeknight at 9:30.

And this was acceptable depending on the circumstances.

That brings back memories of trying to adjust the rabbit ears on the little 13" TV my parents had... They refused to put an antenna on the roof ("We don't watch enough TV for that") and we lived 25 miles outside the city.
So every week I was fiddling with the antenna, desperately trying to get a good signal to watch TNG...

Yeah, you had to get it set up like 15 minutes before it started. Had to make sure the anetenna in just the right place. Often times you were watching an entire episode while standing up and holding the antenna.

But is that intro from 1991 or earlier...

It’s from the first episode, encounter at farpoint, sept 87. :)

I had cable with a clear picture like civilized people.

I did with a 19" TV with rabbit ears.

Always used to judge the quality of VHS copies I was getting (before it aired in the UK) by whether you could see Picard walk across the observation lounge windows. I think he's just about still there!

Me with ~~pirated~~ legitimately obtained anime in the 2010s. Those crusty 240p AVIs.
Mental-Test-7660@reddit
As I see it, if it had been on the telly I'd have taped it anyway. I saved them all the expense of broadcasting it everywhere.

My TV was a bit bigger. Does that CRT look that terrible in person or is it the way the camera picks it up?
TrekChris@reddit (OP)
It's an LCD, and it's a mix of both. Camera makes it look worse than it is, but the TV is in dire need of a recapping.
