I don't really get how you've been proven correct, because people on here bleat about it being shit years later as some badge of honour? I can take it or leave it, but at the time it pulled in some insane viewing figures as far as British comedy goes, had its couple of years in the spotlight, and finished.

A simple thing that helped me in all social interactions is to just stop, think, and then talk. Sounds simple, but I was just letting myself run away with things all the time. It didn't help that I had underlying mental health problems, but I had almost set up this clown/idiot facade to talk instead.

Lots of people do it. I can remember the first time I did something on my own like that, and it was a pretty freeing experience. I'm married with kids etc, but I get perks from insurance like free cinema tickets, I like certain music that my wife hates. Going alone is nice.
