I worked with someone in spoons that went in for a dna test. He knew the kid was his but she was refusing to put his name on the birth certificate. She said if he contested it she would drag it out meaning he couldnt get visiting rights. He went on because it was solved there and then and quicker then the courts. He knew he was going to be laughed at, but wanted to be there for his kids 1st birthday so jusy did it. Not advocating for a very shit and mean show. But shows the state of the court system where Jeremy Kyle covered a need

Why is uk not more self sufficient on food?

Posted by kaydnh@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 323 comments

Very anecdotal, but a farmer near where I grew up used to have an orchid of plum trees, one year he had a bad harvest due to frost the supplier he sold to bought from anorak with more reliability on yield. Those plum trees have now been cut down and turned into a grain field. Variability with globalisation seems to punish risk taking with variable yields for reliability

His first priority is money, hes never pretended otherwise. He is constantly on tour and working on his shows and never stops, and he said he only does so for money. He won't do taskmaster as it would take 6 days of less pay from his schedule. While I am disappointed hes gone never held him in high esteem for his morales

Why don't we plant more fruit trees in the UK?

Posted by Euclid_Interloper@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 473 comments

Front_Mention@reddit

Farmer near me used to have quote a few plum trees, but he cut them all down when a spring frost killed off the crop and he lost his fruit contracts as suppliers sort a more reliable source from france. So from a farmers perspective I would say that the unreliability of late frosts makes it nkt profitable

What are the best cities better than London ?

My opinion, london is unique and an amazing city in the uk, instead of trying to find one city that is close to it you need to look at why you like london and what city has that element. If it's the old quarter and history I would go york, if its Camden then bristol etc.
