What’s the least fuel efficient vehicle you ever had?

Delifier@reddit

Had an 89 MB 300 with bad atf and probably not running totally right. 2,2 liter per 10km in the city and never under 1,1 on longer drives.

I'll take this over a Land Rover any day. Don't know what it is cause the writing is in cyrillic

For a russian car that one was relatively common, especially where i live. Not that you see hundreds per day, but they are there. Main problem might be that they are rust buckets.

OK - what is the difference between E85, UNL88 and Regular? I just wanna fill up my Honda.

Is a 2009 Skoda Fabia 1.2 (150k km) for €3999 in Germany worth buying?

I would consider this only in lack of other options and only at 1000-1500 max. Wouldnt expect more than 2-3 years out of it. Only as run til it wont level

I use my speakers while on the pc. They are permanently hooked to power, eliminating cables or recharging of something i have on my head. The speakers themselves are cabled to the pc tho, but bt capable. Hi fi shelf speakers. I love not to deal with cables or recharging all the time.

Its getting far better than it used to be. We are getting gaming motherboards with built in difi, mine is working perfectly. On earlier desktops ive had, the options were most likely usb dongles and those could be iffy. Had cases of huge lag spikes regularly. Those are now gone, second desktop now with wifi. This one with built in wifi.

If you have to look for adjusting fan speed, direction and temp in a menu, then yes. These are things that should be easy and quick to adjust on the go.

Electric cars will never be ‘real’ enthusiast cars because they lack mechanical soul change my mind.

I upgraded from 16 to 32 GB this summer after getting stutters and freezes. Turned out i had ram usage in the high 90%. Now it can sit on cool 60% usage without issues.

Vw are probably easier to maintain here as they are way more common. Easier access to parts and people who know how to work on them. I was born in the 80s and i vaguely remember some 70s toyotas at the end of the 80s. They wer severely rusted out by then, and I cant remember seeing a vw with same levels of rust. And that is the rust that you can easily see.

People who use 2 or more monitors, do you get one identical in terms of resolution, Hz, etc?

Posted by SwiftLight24@reddit | buildapc | View on Reddit | 775 comments

Delifier@reddit

I have 2 monitors on my gaming rig. THey are quite different. The main monitor is a 32 inch wide with 4K and some other bells and whistles on it. THe other one is cheap ass aoc, cheapest monitor i could find in a physical store, i got after the one i had decided to "jump off a cliff". That one was a Dell U2410 i found in the junk bin at work, great monitor, but old. The secondary one is used for youtube and whatever else i want to look at while in a game.

Posted by Tehfoodstealorz@reddit | buildapc | View on Reddit | 242 comments

Kilowatthours is what you pay for. This means 1 hour of running a 2KW heater means you just spent 2 kilowatthours of electricity. Watt should be of interest in this case, its what ends up costing you.

Those types of vans exist elsewhere too. A lot of vans get loddes to become campers. Some with a roof that can be raised when parked.

Top 3 cities you would live in if you had unlimited money

Posted by chenjp@reddit | expats | View on Reddit | 313 comments

Delifier@reddit

As a prerequisite, my preferred way of living was in a fully detached house instead of an apartment, to get less of a grind against the neighbors. Amsterdam, or at least within easy reach would be my nr 1. My nr 2 is Nashville. Here it might be easier to get that detached house, especially in a more rural area just outside. If i were to go for a cheaper place where i can "blend in" (cant 100%, im not asian), possibly Vientiane, as a more exotic option. Vientiane, or at least Laos, has been on my mind as a place to retire to for my pension to go a longer way regardless.

Opinions on 3 cylinder engine

Posted by Stryker-6@reddit | cars | View on Reddit | 324 comments

Delifier@reddit

Number of cylinders usually follows volume. This is where the real downsize is. A 3 cylinder would probably be 1 liter or less. 4 cylinders seem to cover 1-2,4 liter sizes. This is probably where an engine of a more moderate suv would be. Possibly 3 liter sixcylinder if its us.

I live in one of the 1000+ years old cities. One of the problems with wooden houses is that it has been big city fires more than once. (the city is somewhat famous for its wooden house areas). After one of the rebuilds one of the design features for the city centre is nice, broad streets with the purpose of making fires harder to spread. Somewhat of a feat back in the 1600s. Now there are more concrete structures there, but the royal palace from the 1700s is still made of wood.

Manual gearbox fans, you always prefer the manual option, but what is that one automatic-only car that you DO crave?

Posted by goaelephant@reddit | cars | View on Reddit | 660 comments

Delifier@reddit

I draw the line a little bit more on what the purpose of the car is. If the purpose is more sporty, then manual. If its a bigger car with torqy engine rigged more towards comfort, then auto. Currently do have a MB C200 with compressor, its supposed to be more over on the sporty side, but what it is for me is a largeish estate where you can sit for hours while you get to where you are going.

How long do you drive between breaks during highway road trips?

Posted by vistastructions@reddit | cars | View on Reddit | 387 comments

Delifier@reddit

I tend to stop every 2-3 hours. The longer drives i take is closer to 9 hours. Might depend a bit on the car i drive too, as not all cars are as comfortable to sit in for longer stretches. One of my more common longer drives is usually less than 2 hours so i just stop when i get where im going.

And i think they get them automatic too. Might need some confirmation, but apart from electrics, automatic transmissions are getting a way bigger part now than it used to, being more efficient etc. In norway more and more youth are getting automatic only licenses, and more driving schools are focusing on them having autmatic cars.

The thing with those boring colors is that they are a safe bet. For best possible resell value you want all the bells and whistles and a color that doesnt stand out.
