To each their own. I'm glass half full kind of a guy. The way I see it he gets to spend more time with his aging mother, help her out, and cut down on expenses.

Israel informed the United States earlier this week that it is running critically low on ballistic missile interceptors as the conflict with Iran rages on, having entered the conflict already low on interceptors from last year’s Twelve-Day War, U.S. officials tell Semafor.

In hindsight, how did your parents fail you?

Posted by FAHQRudy@reddit | Xennials | View on Reddit | 259 comments

w1r2g3@reddit

My parents didn't fail me. They wanted their kids to do better than them. They taught me and my sister's work ethic, confidence and to never give up. We grew up poor but never felt poor. They were always there for us and supported us through good and bad times. I can only hope my kids will think about me the way I think about my parents when they grow up.

I don't know if was just where I lived but the older genx drove the younger kids around all the time too. I remember kids in my neighborhood taking me and my friends to the beach, baseball games, basketball games, places to skate board. Granted most of them new us since we where born and the neighborhood but it was cool that the didn't bail on us when they started driving.

Do you have a full head of hair? Seems like those who go grey earlier don't lose their hair. I guess if that's your look, then that's your look. Gray hair looks old to me and OP would look good with dyed hair. He pointed out that he's not married with kids.

Recommend a kerosine heater to keep on hand. 5 gallons gets you about 24hr continous run time. But it doesn't take long get the chill out of the air.

In upstate ny, they make the prisoners take care of forest management. I'm not sure about other states, but ca could take a page from the NY prison system. The local communities benefit, and the prisoners get to spend time outside the fence or wall.

I can relate. 8 years of engineering school while working during that time period. It was a blur. I survived 2008 as a young engineer, but I remember a lot of older folks crying when they got laid off. It was miserable.

Delegate. Quite a few years ago, my boss told me that I have to get better at delegating or I'm going to burn out. He was right. Now, I don't do anything at work that somebody else can do. Best work advice I've ever received.

I think it's tougher now because there is so much competition. Back then, it was more of who you know to get exposure and stardom. MJF was meh, in my opinion. Anybody could have played his acting role's.

Are you all in middle management or executive management at this point?

Posted by kkkan2020@reddit | Xennials | View on Reddit | 580 comments

w1r2g3@reddit

Middle management for about five years. Have a team of engineers ranging in age. Disappointed in the youth. Everyone our age or older have excellent work ethic. Lots of hand holding for younger folks. When we were there age, we came to our bosses with solutions, not problems.

Older Gen Xrs (50s-60) what advice do you have to younger Gen Xrs (early to mid 40s)?

We got cable in 1986 when I was about six. I remember taking down the big ass antenae from the roof a couple of years later with my dad. He was a hoarder and still is. That antenna is still in his attic. Not touched for over thirty five years.
