I lost my mum at 28, she was 51 so very similar circumstances. I had tried the same thinking it would help but then when memories and fleeting thoughts came up they were even more painful as I hadn't processed them. The best piece of advice that actually stuck with me is that grief is the price we pay for love. That helped me turn the sadness of losing her into focusing on the love I had received from her and the love I carry for her. I wish you well and if you ever need someone to talk through anything please feel free to DM me.

In an old job I saw a woman walking her dog on the same bend at the same time every morning. We ended up waving to each other every day for a year not knowing a single thing about each other.

Who's still working from home these days and what job do you do?

It’s Friday the 13th and I have a job interview and a disciplinary within a few hours of each other. Is anybody else dreading superstition today?

I disagree, most lines of Ikea products have definitely had the enshitification treatment. The metal cam locks are replaced with plastic and now only present on the 'premium' lines. What used to be solid oak on the 'premium' lines are now oak veneer where possible (table tops, drawers etc.), legs are still solid oak generally though. Lots more examples but those two that stand out for me.

Do it, in a similar vein, I lost my Mum when I was 28 (she was 51). On my 30th birthday, I had hoped she had written a letter or similar, but there was nothing. I'd hoped for a first-born message, wedding message, etc. also, but I doubt these exist if my 30th didn't. She only had 3 weeks from knowing her cancer had returned, so I completely understand why they don't exist, but it would have been lovely. Luckily my phone recorded our conversations on my drive home after work, and I have months' worth of hour long conversations. They're one of my most treasured memories. I wish I had similar for other members of my family.

We had jesus man. Wore a habit, sandals and walked for miles upon miles. Legend has it he renounced all his earthly possessions to live in a cave after speaking to god. He never aged, grandparents swore blind he looked exactly the same when they were kids. It was always a good day when you spotted jesus man whilst been dragged to the supermarket as a kid. There was a website to log where he was last seen and add photos. RIP Jesus Man: https://bradfordjesusman.co.uk/
