Why do Brits not talk to each other about their home towns as much as other countries?

To be honest with you, everyome in the UK knows multipls people who have lived or do live in London, we've heard about it, we also often get told how AMAZING it is, and cba with hearing that again... We've all been, we know what it's like - yeah there's loads to do and loads to see, but there's loads of good things about *not* living there too...

My own research into the meaning behind your words?? I'm confused how you expect me to do that, without asking you? Who were you referring to with that comment? Also, your stats are from a meme about 2017 stats that got the context and content all wrong, so maybe don't brag about all your research?

Once again, not from Canada. Look I'm from the UK, my country is objectively better than yours in every measurable way, but I respect your right to enjoy your country, even though it is deeply, deeply flawed. Do I think the UK should re-take the US and bring it back under the union? No, because that is imperialist and ultimately would destroy the autonomy and personal liberty of every citizen of the US, which is a bad thing. You are saying the USA should rule over Canada, and have weirdly convinced yourself that views of Canadians shouldn't matter in that process? You think their opinions are wrong so you should just disregard them and do shat YOU think is best for them, against their will. Coming from a Brit, that ain't a good opinion to have... Trust me.

Your hatred shone through in your earlier xenophobic comment about enemies on the streets of Canada. I have disdain for American disabled retired combat veterans who have pride in their country and who flippantly call children being killed "leftist talking points", display xenophobia and actively support the erosion of soverignty of a staunch ally. Your country is not the greatest by any metric other than your feefees.

Mate, I come from the Motherland, not Canada. USA exists because of us, not you. I think Canadians feel the enemy is the foreign power making overtures of invasion... Not literally the poorest people in society looking for scraps.

They can call themselves that til they're blue in the face, by absolutely no definition or metric are they in any way a craft brewer and therefore do not produce craft beer. I see far more normos drinking it than hipsters, it's top promoter is Peter Crouch ffs and his podcast for oiks.

No it isn't 😂 it's mass produced, do you really think they're making enough beer to sell in every supermarket and half the pubs in the country on a craft scale? That's like saying Greene King or San Miguel are Craft Beer.

Sausages in the oven for 25mins, whack in some frozen hash browns, beans out the tin and into a pan on that one tiny hob that doesn't really cook anything, just brings it up to the temp of a warm bath... 10mins to go shove bacon in oven and BP in a pan on high, crisp that fucker up. Shove the kekkle on around now, 5mins left, flip BP, water over teabags, toast in toaster. Eggs in pan with BP, season, lid, toast out and buttered/milk in tea, teabag discarded. Hob off, oven off. Plate all oven shit, beans (behind porky barrier) toast on, BP on plate, eggs on toast, back pocket the brown sauce, cutlery, and teas on tray, up we go to the lounge to eat Infront of Saturday Kitchen or Sunday Brunch

We kinda did the reverse of this, had meat options at the day buffet (tho these were limited) then in the evening just had a big pot of vegan chilli available. Most of the comments we got were "omg this chilli is amazing, how can it be so good without meat!?" So just do it, there was no need to tell anyone it'd be meat free.

While I can't speak to the Custard, your other comparison alarms me. Clearly Casio is the superior watchmaker of those two. More robust and durable products, more stylish, more variety, change with fashions and much more affordable. Rolex is like those new build houses that have 6 bedrooms and a double garage that cost a million but look ugly as sin in a soulless neighbourhood, Casio is the 350,000, 150yr old townhouse oozing with character in a good location.

I broke up a 'fight' where a guy got knocked down and was getting kicked in, the groups of friends weren't really doing anything so I ran over and got between them, but couldn't restrain the guy and he kept coming back to try and kick the dude so I told him the police would be there any second so he should go, he ran off and the police were there shortly after. I'm pretty sure a load of the witnesses knew the attacker so I'm sure he got caught, but in the moment it did feel weird telling the dude to evade the police, still not sure what else I could've done without getting myself injured and potentially starting another brawl...

Thing is, with fewer people buying alcoholic drinks, the pubs still need to take the money they would from one, so they have to charge more for soft drinks than they used to when they were just mixers, for kids or for like 2% of customers

Anxiety sufferers of AskUK - what are your tried and tested ways of dealing with it?

Posted by Toots1993@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 303 comments

summinspicy@reddit

Therapy worked for me, gave me tools to deal with what I have, I gave up weed but still drink socially, but never really used that to avoid the anxiety so doesn't have much of an impact. Exercise helps, but mostly I remember those things worked out in therapy. Another thing for me has been sorting out my sleep apnoea, getting treatment for that means I sleep properly now, don't wake up from a lack of breath multiple times a night and don't feel deathly tired all day every day

What most quickly puts you off going in a pub?

Posted by ProfPMJ-123@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 1211 comments

I go in to pubs multiple times a week and a sky sports sign is a turn off for me... I usually go with my wife who is not a sports fan and we like chatting with whomever we meet in the pub, when sport is on, those conversations are extremely one dimensional and it's hard to have a chat. We also generally go early evening 5-8 so quizzes and stuff that start at 7 or the like don't work for us. We like pubs that have a few nice beers, a sheltered outside space, friendly staff and friendly locals, is that bad?
