Honestly at this point I've reached contentment with "we all have different competencies". Do I want to spend hours of my life putting on makeup, fussing with hair and outfits, and driving out/calling up customers doing the sales bunny thing? Absolutely not, that sounds like hell. Do we have people like that who are great at making sales but can't follow on screen instructions sometimes? Yep, for sure. It's a partnership I think although I'm sure they'd say they're the important one, I can live with that because we know different 😂

Can you help me understand my husband’s point of view please? Should our son be allowed to game past 10pm on a school night if he can’t keep his voice down?

It's entirely possible to game without shouting. He may be shouting over the game noise - he needs to turn the game sounds way down but keep the voice chat levels audible so he can still hear people without having to shout over the game effects. He is also being enabled in growing up to be an absolute nightmare neighbour/flatmate etc, its important to learn that he is NOT the main character and he can't just ignore everyone around him in favour of what he prefers. If you and your husband don't teach him that now, someone later on is going to teach him in a much more physically painful way most likely - learning now is the preferable option! Absolute last resort - move the router into your bedroom and unplug it when he starts shouting. You'll only have to do it a few times.

Have you ever bought tickets to something (A movie, a concert, an event etc.) and realised you’d completely misunderstood what it was?

I moved to Gousto and generally found the ingredient quality way better. I cancelled it last month after years because DHL kept just leaving the box in the street and marking it "delivered"

If there are vastly more people with mental health issues and they haven't increased the mental health funding by at least vastly +1, doesn't that mean they provide LESS mental health care per person?...

Enshittification feels like it's everywhere. What's managed to not just avoid it, but actually get better in recent years?

Can British people tell if someone is fake accenting like a Brit?

Do you think if I learned your language and then tried to put on a fake accent in it that you'd be able to tell as a native speaker? My guess is "yes immediately". The caveat to that is that as a foreign English speaker you'll probably *always* speak English with an accent from your native language, even if it's only slight after years, so speak however makes you happy :)

McDonalds hot fudge sundae - I lived on those when I was at college very many years ago, the shortbread bits and hot fudge sauce made it a million times better than any of their dessert options now

The councils need to seriously look at what they can do to encourage the independent small shops because those are the things you can't get at Amazon or a million other online retailers, and they're being constantly priced out by high business rates - I' not sure who in the councils think empty store front are better than cheaper business rates but clearly theres one in every council! We need to move back towards the covid vibe where people were eating meals and being out in the pedestrianised areas - if each city had a low business rate pedestrianised area with only independent shops and cafes that were open in the evenings with supporting local train and bus services, people would head back in.

There was one where they showed the force of the crash pushing someone forwards turning into an elephant pushing them - that stuck with me, I kind of felt before that I could just "push back/hold on" but that really helped me imagine how impossible that would be

I think the UK is much more accepting of that kind of thing in public \*as long as it's obviously a joke\*. If Alex and Greg on Taskmaster were actually just in a gay relationship, they could say and do identical things that they do today or even toned down from what they do today, and there would be a lot of screaming I think from some quarters about how they were "throwing it in peoples faces".

Why does "everyone" think councils accept bribes, brown envelopes, etc as soon as anything they don't like happens?

About 50 years ago, some close relatives of mine were building their house down in Devon and getting frustrated because the local planning department kept coming back with more and more blatantly rubbish reasons why they were being denied. Luckily as my family is local to the area, a relative heard what was going on, took them to one side, and explained that it was commonly known that this was because the council guy was waiting for a bribe, and how to go about it. The bribe was done through the "usual" process, and they suddenly got the approval after no changes whatsoever.
