EPA DEF sensor rule

Key point from the article. > The agency’s new guidance makes clear that under existing regulations, manufacturers can stop inaccurate DEF system failures by removing traditional emission sensors, known as Urea Quality Sensors, and switching to nitrous oxide (NOx) sensors,” the agency said. >The EPA also noted that approved NOx sensor-based software updates can be installed on existing engines without being treated as illegal tampering under the Clean Air Act, under Right to Repair clarification guidance issued in February 2026. If I read this right, they’re not saying you don’t have to have emissions systems, you can simply use an NOx sensor instead

They replaced the whole empennage of the CRJ that lost its tail in Atlanta.

Tell me your worst Lightning Strike event

Fourth Day working in the office as their first full time IT staff. Still getting the lay of the land. Lightning strike blew out router, switch, and their shared WD Drive. All were junk off the shelf from Staples and weren't properly grounded, but it gave me the excuse I needed to rip the system up

My idea of one firewall was more a cost saving measure. I ended up with Ubiquiti mostly because of the goofiness of how we operate and I use it myself. We have an MSP but they only help our Azure environment, all our network work is in house by myself.

The application is in azure but because it predates our move to 365, the directory the app uses is not the same as our Active Directory in Azure. When you set up a client VPN, can it be configured as a static IP I can whitelist through our Network Security Group?

I reached out to Fortinet this morning before I posted this, but I wanted to see what other options if there was anything else for my specific use case.

One of them is this really old app that was moved to an Azure VM about 5 years ago. The company that made it is planning on moving us to their new Webapp thing they've been talking about, but supposedly it'll be ready for service in Jan 2026. Our people need to access it from wherever they are too, so a VPN they can easily access the config for would be a lifesaver for me. I currently have to generate them manually through my UDM

We have one hosted application that requires IP White listing or a VPN. The company that made it is moving us to their application version in January 2026, that’s the only reason I haven’t connected it to active directory.

Just dealt with that myself as well. Enabled that. We're not ready for Conditional access because we still have a number of non-compliant devices in use, but that'll be next.

IT admin in a company that’s never had someone in my position

I took a position similar to yours but on a smaller scale. Company had nothing managed, just a salesman from Staples, some random dude who setup the networks in their locations, and a guy who did their MDM (IBM MAAS). MS365 licences were on an individual basis because the salesman got a kickback for each one he sold. I also worked as a school in similar shape. Some Advice to keep in mind. 1. The company is growing, and so everything Tech related is going to be dropped on you. If their managed devices are in this shape, a lot of other systems (the networks, appliances, etc) might be as well. They've probably had a lot of people selling them stuff but no-one to manage it all. Go through the office and do a full inventory of their physical assets. Keep your ear open for ANY system that they talk about, because they're going to ask you to support it at some point. 2. Explain to management that to do a good job, you're going to need a budget, and it's going to grow as you do your inventory. 3. Be patient. End Users have never had someone to go to, so suddenly your going to discover a ton of systems that have been jury rigged. Keep track of them. 4. Know when to take a break and/or contract work out. Pick your lane that your good at, and contract the rest. 5. I have a rule that users can ONLY request computer/device help after they have restarted it, building self-service for company crap is very important, so start early. 6. Keep track of fixes you make, because you'll need it again. There's a system that is super finnicky and only I know how to configure it properly. My company basically didn't give me a budget and has just said "buy what you need and we'll figure it out." Here's what I use * Mac Management - Mosyle, it's 1.25 a month per device and works super well (we use iPads, I don't manage macs). Also does SSO login, not sure how to do it with MS365. * PC Management - Intune, part of the MS365 Package. Easy to manage and most people need/want MS Office. * Snipe-IT - $500 a year for hosted and can do SSO. Made keeping track of everything so much better * FreshService - I had used it previously, super simple for people to use and has made the job so much more bearable. Easy to make self service guides. * Dell Small Business - I've had some turnover with their sales people, but really pleased with them otherwise. Things I contract out * Security Cameras (we have a lot of them) * Certain Radio Systems we use * On Demand projects with our MSM (they sell MS365, but I manage it).

If you intentionally harass them to do so yes. Scribbling on a trailer would not be intentional harassment, just being a douche

This is just sad and brutal. Driver was DUI.

They're in the process of redesigning the road layout at Logan Airport. Taller Vehicles used to be able to loop through the inner loop but the new ramps on the upper level are lower. I think a bus got stuck there recently as well. That being said, I think this was in the entrance to terminal B lower level. And that is LOW (11'6") and would have seemed it as they were approaching it. Also, what the hell are you taking a tractor-trailer through the Logan terminals for? I'm guessing they were heading to a cargo facility but still...
