I cannot imagine towel sharing in many situations. Even hotel pool ones make me a little weirded out. That's mostly because I know a guy that worked for a laundry that washed hotel towels.

Thanks! But for people traveling with a truck, and seriously this is for my own curiosity because I'm not going to drive one as far as I know. Do most of them have a place that you can park and just take your time?

Well, I understand the flip flop comment from a trucking point of view, and I also have a really awesome Hispanic neighbor that her mom threatens the grandchildren with a flip flop all the time. They really are a multi-purpose tool.

It is a little weird to me, but as long as everything is consensual and not involving others and you get your money's worth.... Have fun! Apparently you need to wear flip flops though.

That's incredibly kind of you. I'm currently sitting in Florida, having showered just yesterday, thinking about how terrible it would be to not be able to shower tonight. I live in an area with a ridiculously large homeless population, and often pass along that people are free to park in my driveway and use my hose. It's quite a bit different to get a true shower though.

I am absolutely going to keep this in mind. Thank you. I don't travel the way I used to, but knowing that I can get a shower at a stop May change some of my travel plans in the future.

Thank you! I didn't often stop at truck stops on my way, but I did stop at one to grab a coffee, and the cashier absolutely refused to let me pay for my coffee and random soggy hash brown under a warmer. She kind of looked at me like I was from a different planet. (I guess I kind of looked like I was a different planet at that time though.) If I had known I could get a shower there, I would have. I was so gross that minute.

I don't need an away from home shower (this sub just keeps showing in my feed), but I have a question for you. First though, that was very nice of you to offer them one. Can people that don't drive truck the shower is that truck stop? I'm assuming yes. I would have loved to have known about this 20 years ago when I drove from Pennsylvania to Oregon and back in a about week to bring my sister her cat.

Concert Tickets in 2025

You aren't wrong. The comment I made about the Crystal ballroom was more about the feel of the crowd, and of course the springing floor. The acoustics aren't wonderful. But the vibe is.

I love the Crystal ballroom so much. I love Social D so much. I would have to question my sanity to pay that much to see them there though. Then again, my kid just bought a ticket for 2 days at Warped for $250. I'm pretty sure it was $75 a day when I took my niece Many years ago.

I love to look around little areas I know I'm never going to visit. I couldn't help but notice just a bit further on up the road, keeping poles upright doesn't seem to be a thing around there. https://ibb.co/HLjJXJNh

Everyone keeps bragging about those record players, but do you have your first computer? I just found mine. It's gross, but it's mine.

Yes! This one is still just as noisy as ever. I don't want to throw it away because it is so old and so cool, but it's honestly disgusting junk at this point. Haha

I have no idea why I still have this. Out of all of the things I lost growing up, this is the most random thing to survive.

For those who don't live near the coast, what is your perception of the ocean?

The alligators in front of my house beg to differ. We also have feces flinging, herpes infested monkeys, but that's a different story. Statistically, 90% of drownings occur in freshwater. That's also likely because 90% of swimming occurs in freshwater.

Not my post, but I did this drive: https://old.reddit.com/r/mildlyinteresting/comments/um10g3/this_sign_in_newport_oregon_that_shows_how_far/ Obviously I traversed several states, but seeing that sign definitely gave my brain a wallop.

Seriously, why aren’t skating rinks more popular today?

If modern roller skating rinks or anything like the ones when I was a child, I don't want my kid at one. That's where all the local 20-year-old guys would go to try to hook up with 13-year-old girls and give them beer and cigarettes. Source: drunk at 13 , luckily smart enough to not get hooked up with.

What's the worst airport experience you've ever had?

I watched immigration officers arrest five or six employees there while waiting for a flight. I'm pretty sure they were contractors working on a remodel, and not employed directly by the airport. It sure was a shit show though.
