Asks me what time it is, all the bloody time. We have numerous technologies these days, phones, tv’s, ovens, watches that all tell the time but no he asks me. Every single time. I am his clock.

Partner got a £50 M&S voucher from his work for Christmas. We’ll probably get one of those dine in meals with it (meant to be nice), get tipsy on the wine and listen to some music on the sofa with the dog.

What juicy family drama will be played out for you over Christmas?

Discovered last year that I like stollen. Wish I fucking hadn’t discovered that. Those wee packs of it from Aldi are belter. So easy to eat the entire pack in two days.

Oh wow. Talk about bad luck, huh? At least you were seen to and tests came back clear. Have to admit this was on my kind a bit. I’m glad you’re ok, OP. Hopefully the GP will help clear things up for you. Take it easy.

12 hours with my mum who had a bleed in her intestines. 8 hours of that was spent with ambulance staff as the hospital had no room to take charge of her care until then. She was in for a day and a half, told she needs to stop taking dicloflex (that her Dr has prescribed her with no check-up for at least 15 years) and sent home. How are you now OP? Any update? Sounds scary. Glad you are being seen to.

Im scottish and I only found out about its existence a month or so ago. Funnily enough, I was watching an episode of ‘My Family’ (the bbc sitcom), and Susan mentioned listening to the Archers on Radio 4. I asked my parents if they’d heard of it and they both said their parents used to listen to it all the time. So I found it on Spotify and I’ve been listening to the omnibus’ in my way to and from work, just something mind numbing to listen to to step me getting road rage in the morning haha.

What time do you do your weekly food shop?

Posted by mbe147@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 414 comments

We are generally a veg household more than a fruit household. Fruit we do get is apples or bananas and apples last forever in the fridge. Most of the veg gets kept in the crisping drawer and 100% lasts. I buy 3 bags of tenderstem broccoli, about 10 bell peppers, spring onions, leeks, baby corn, big cauliflower, carrots. If all lasts completely fine in the crisping drawer. We don’t use a lot of milk either (I personally don’t use any), partner uses the sniff test for it. We buy a 2L milk and it generally lasts.

Twice a month generally on a Tuesday or Wednesday evening after work. Fortnightly shops are the way to go, save so much money that way. Aldi for everything generally, Costco for some meat, home bargains for branded cleaning stuff. In and out in under 40 mins because fuck shopping.

Same. Cannot stand the smell, look, taste or feeling of any saucy condiment. So so so gross. Beans as well, if beans were to touch me I’d scream. The smell alone makes me gag. Yuck.

How do you cope with washing?

Posted by shez_bu@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 288 comments

rhay212@reddit

If you have a washer/dryer, are you not using the dryer function? We have a Beko washer/dryer and it does a wash and dry inside 3.5 hours. Nothing ever shrinks, everything is done on a 40c. Only like wool made things would shrink. It is a steam pump dryer not sure if that makes a difference.

If she’s doped up on Co-Codamol all day for the pain then she may well not be able to work. I’ve had that strong stuff (30/500) before and could barely function. You’re also not allowed to drive on it as makes you drowsy and what if she needs to drive to work…

How much are you spending on food per week?

rhay212@reddit

2 people, we shop across 3 stores. £50 monthly in Home Bargains on cleaning and bathroom stuff £90 fortnightly at Aldi on veg and cupboard items £55-£60 monthly on meat in bulk from Costco (bought and frozen on the day in packages we use daily) Max £290 a month I’m really good at keeping the house stocked full so we generally never overspend and sometimes underspend depending on how stocked up I am. I am a cook from scratch type person so cupboards are full of flours, sugars, passata, pulses/beans, pastas/rice (buy that in bulk) etc. I also buy laundry stuff in bulk to make it cheaper and hand wash in bulk. I can get 10 dove creamy hand wash refills for £18 on Amazon and the lasts months, same with dairy conditioner for the laundry and then the big big 144 wash bottle of non bio fairy laundry liquid. ALWAYS buy a big bottle of fairy liquid as well, it is always cheaper than buying the shitty little ones. I definitely think being stocked up helps though, we never run out of things and if all the shops were to close tomorrow we’d be good for at least 3-4 weeks from now.

That comes from the Scots Gaelic word for ‘cheerio’, spelt ‘tìoraidh’ which is pronounced exactly like cheery. You could also say ‘tìoraidh an drasta’ - cheerio for now/bye for now
