Anything that uses RPI+ for price increases should be removed from inflation calculations. They’re just baking in a bigger increase next year otherwise.

Why isn’t WizzAir as popular as other low cost airlines?

I’ve flown WizzAir twice to Lithuania and twice to Bulgaria and not had any issues. They’re a budget airline, people’s experience of it going wrong sounds awfully similar to my experience with Ryanair the one time it went wrong.

What are you invested in? An all world fund is up ~14% over the past 12 months. S&P500 ~16% over the past 12 months. I’d assume people who recommend investing over overpaying the mortgage would typically be comparing it to investing in something like an all world fund or S&P500.

Landlords aren’t entitled to and can’t claim for betterment although they will try. They can at most claim to return the property to the condition it was at the start of the tenancy less fair wear and tear. Landlords must apportion the cost if replacing old for new as they aren’t allowed to end up financially or materially better off.

People will know how much they earn now and spend on their mortgage now. I could earn ~£12k a year less if the mortgage was paid off, my other costs don’t change. Not like my mortgage is particularly big either.

Why is British Airways generally maligned by the general public compared to other airlines?

Posted by CornerInsect@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 341 comments

mupps-l@reddit

In my experience they’re often £100+ cheaper. You could add a checked bag or cabin bag on easyJet and still have that come out cheaper. Not sure what other extras are needed. Admittedly airline pricing can be weird and during high demand times and I have seen Ryanair/easyJet base fairs cost as much or even more than BA that’s not normal though.

mupps-l@reddit

Only if you take a couple of bags though. Last time I looked at Ryanair vs BA even with 1 checked bag Ryanair was well over £100 cheaper. Won’t always be the case because of how airlines price, higher demand tends to be a bit of an equaliser in my experience.

Airport location definitely can be a factor, both in the Uk and abroad. Although if you drive parking is often half as much at Luton or Stansted compared to Heathrow and for me the time to get to all 3 is pretty close.

EasyJet, Ryanair and Wizz air are all often significantly cheaper. The product BA offer on short haul isn’t in my experience worth the extra cost.

Most airlines are fine if your plane isn’t cancelled to be fair. I fly BA a fair amount when I travel for work, imo they aren’t worth the cost when compared to other options.

I’d argue it didn’t work at all. If he didn’t lie about knowing Pincher was a sex pest there’s a very real chance he’d be PM now. Abusing constitutional norms had 0 consequences for him.

Which London airport is the best?

Posted by throwitintheair22@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 31 comments

mupps-l@reddit

London city is imo easily the best, small airport with few flights each hour means it’s quieter than the rest, short queues at security/passport control almost guaranteed. It’s not necessarily the most practical though and limited destination choice. Stansted is imo the worst, have had far more bad experiences than good flying from there, in fact I’ve probably had more bad experiences there than I have had at the other London airports combined, even if it is probably the most convenient for me to get to I avoid if possible. Heathrow is the airport I’ve flown from most by a long distance, it’s fine. Luton is also fine not my first choice though. Gatwick is the most difficult to get to for me, so I’ve only flown out of there once in the past couple of years. Again it was fine.

While it is possible to contest a will, it’s worth keeping in mind anyone can be excluded from a will for any reason. Your parents stating in the will they leave you nothing or leaving a small token amount would make any potential challenge more difficult. Them giving more to your step sister now doesn’t come into it.
