Why is a third runway at Heathrow predicted to cost so much?

"We'll all be expected to just accept it". Accept what exactly? Are you a shareholder in Heathrow airport or am I missing something? If a private company wants to spend its money on this why do you care how much it costs them, or how long it takes?

Is the UK actually at risk of running out of water? How serious is it really? A colleague was anxious about it this morning, but surely it can’t be that bad can it?

However the reason we don't already do this at scale is because it is much more expensive than currently used sources of water. The person who figures out how to profitably/cheaply desalinate sea water will become very rich.

If recreational cannabis is illegal, why do so many people smoke it out in public?

The unspoken logic behind this is that keeping weed illegal does make it easier to get leads on serious organised crime, legalising it whilst solving lots of these problems does remove a link to organised crime that is quite valuable to law enforcement. (I fully support legalisation and regulation)

This is absolutely not true though, the UK is in quite a rare position to have a state pension that isn't defined by contributions, but a flat amount regardless. The vast majority of other western countries' state pensions are based on contributions, making them not a pyramid scheme like the way ours works. It was short-sighted thinking from the start.

The problem is that by 2036 state pension costs (which are already £150bn/year) will be higher than the amount the government raises from NI, and by 2070 if you didn't want it to bankrupt the entire country you would have had to raised the retirement age to essentially 80 years old, essentially our life expectancy. No one is blaming pensioners, but to say it isn't absolutely a problem heading our way is acting like an ostrich.

What are your thoughts on a member of a certain demographic using a phrase that is a slur towards that same demographic?

And the problem with this is defining "what is a slur"? Queer is one we can all agree used to get used as a slur, but is now incredibly commonplace with every organisation being pro-LGBTQ+, and many people using the queer label to avoid giving away personal details they'd like to keep private. If everyone wants to agree that in a workplace scenario queer is still a slur, then should we tell organisations to "drop the Q" so to speak? How about "gay"? Gay was used extensively as a slur, probably \*the\* most popular slur in the 00's. It would be silly to tell people they can't call themselves gay anymore. So where is the line drawn?

I'd like to see some evidence of "ridiculous transgender stuff" that has \*RUINED\* safety in toilets. Now this isn't to say a subset of people may be uncomfortable with trans women in their bathroom, but safety? For every case you can find me of a transgender individual impacting someone's safety in a bathroom, I will show you 3 cases of a cisgender individual being harassed in a bathroom under the false assumption that they are trans. (I doubt I will even need to provide any due to the fact I am unsure if any bathroom incidents have occurred at the hands of a tiny portion of the population, much more commonly cis men will simply go where they please to harm women without any of the "ridiculous transgender stuff")

its not necessarily about low latency, its about latency variation, and this is kinda unavoidable in non-perfect conditions on WiFi, some games netcode deal super well with higher latency variation, others not so much.

It's not right, if the chance of rolling a 6 is 1/6, with 6 dice it doesn't become 6/6 (100%), yes it gets much higher but probabilities don't work that way.
