Oh man I feel for you, the only time 32 gigs isn't possible is when we decide we aren't upgrading something from the Intel 7th gen and we just use what ram we have, otherwise we gotta do 32

We tried Yodeck and based on your requirements it should be perfect as far as I can tell, we didn't end up going with them since we had too much technical debt to make it work in the way we wanted.

First off, your formatting is making that way harder to read than it needs to. Second, you mention that you know that you shouldn't advertise in this community yet you do exactly that.

First I would recommend taking your script and putting it in a script block. Second when sharing a script I would also generally recommend making sure error messages are in English and finally, I would suggest that you are very up front about the AI usage in your script.

How do you convince bosses to monitor before everything explodes?

Posted by Such_Rhubarb8095@reddit | sysadmin | View on Reddit | 50 comments

UsersLieAllTheTime@reddit

We had monitoring before but since we were paying per sensor to be monitored we had a very limited amount of monitoring, so when I offered to take on the burden of setting up Zabbix on our infra I was given the greenlight and a transition phase once I had it up and working. Today we have better and more monitoring than we had before.

I can't speak to the Germany projects but I know that in my country they are doing pilot projects to see if it's feasible to make the switch and there are positive reports about it, though not enough to do a full switch yet. So I think you're right in that it is not happening tomorrow but I think it is becoming more and more likely

I would probably do a VM on their workstation and then make sure policy about how and why it can be used is available and signed by them so that if they use it for anything other than the intended use it can become an HR problem instead of an IT one.

I mean it makes sense considering how there hasn't really been a difference with 24 and 25, but I did have to so some convincing of my senior, since he thought we should just go up to 24h2 on everything, but after some talk we agreed that 25h2 made more sense

We issue 2 models for most office staff but everything gets a minimum 32 gigs of ram. T16 latest model for stationary users who are mostly in office and low amounts of meetings. T14 latest model for users who do a lot of sales or tons of meetings, usually have to be requested. Then we have an assortment of desktops and minis in production and some older staff who prefer that

Well considering that the C suite at my place of work think that a ticket system wouldn't work since our users aren't the type for it not to mention that our team is so small. Personally I think it could do us some good but alas.

It means that you have had boxes checked off and that you got a little gold star, they can help guide you towards goals to improve security but you aren't suddenly impermeable to attacks or phishing because you're soc2 or iso whatever. IMO there is no such thing as safe (of course turned off in an airgapped room with no access to anyone is pretty safe but you understand)

I had the same issue and can confirm that reinstalling or repairing didn’t help. What actually fixed it for me was resetting Edge’s settings and then restarting the computer. Not sure why it worked, but it did.

Oh I agree, but when it's T1 tech then they usually don't know what the level of knowledge is among the higher tiers so they go with what they know which is handholding levels. I'm pretty sure I did something like that back when I was a T1
