This specific country lanes is double track, apologies for being vague, but yeah they can always just go around. It’s not like I’m being a prick holding traffic up at 5PM on weekday, I was cycling a 7PM on a Sunday, and prefer to go out at these times as it’s quieter

Totally get this and ride on cycle lanes when suitable, but unfortunately a lot near me are full of crap like broken glass which mean a faffy inner tube replacement at best

Student here. I’d recommend a mains powered radio/speaker with bluetooth capabilities - halls can be remarkably quiet and lonely at points and this helps alleviate it.

You’re definitely not too late for apprenticeships! There are 233 near me, 159 level 3s, and 15 which are HND, bachelor’s degree and Masters degree level in 15mi. Probably plenty more if you’re further south than I am.

I’d recommend a Sony A7ii or an A6300 (cheaper lenses, as it’s a smaller sensor) with a few lenses. think they’re a good mix of being simple enough to pick up and learn on, but also “professional” enough to not limit you when you want to try new techniques. As for lenses, you can convert most lenses into macros with extension tubes. Otherwise you can buy dedicated macro lenses - vintage ones tend to be the cheapest, but you have to use an adapter

Frankly, "In case I need it" is as good of a reason as any, especially for the legal folding pocket knives we're talking about. They are as much of a tool as a hammer- I've used mine before to rescue a sheep tangled in wire upside down in a ditch. As you've pointed out, the interpretation of the law isn't synonymous with the letter of the law, however officers can use their own discretion- A small tool with pliers, scissors, and files wouldn't set of many alarm bells as it is obviously a tool, and used with the intent of being a tool. Now, as for myself, I don't fish or hunt but I hike and work in a restaurant. I use common sense, and leave it at home when I'm visiting cities and going to a gig. I don't give the the police reasons to search me - I'm not walking around in balaclavas and trackies as part of a gang, rather chinos and muddy boots.

It’s illegal to: • carry most knives or any weapons in public without a ‘good reason’ • sell most knives or any weapons to anyone under the age of 18 The exception to these 2 rules are folding pocketknives that: • have a cutting edge no longer than 3 inches • are not lock knives (they do not have a button, spring or catch that you have to use to fold the knife) \- Gov.uk website I carry a mini folding pocket tool which adheres to these laws daily, though not into cities and towns.

Horrendous. One of the things which really grated on me was when the FOH people would stop to help as you were drowning in plates, and managers would come in to lecture you and FOH whilst expecting you to have no pile.

I saw Pulp at Scarborough. They were excellent, one of the best gigs I’ve been to despite the rainstorm and biblical downpour which hit just between the support and pulp. Also, I personally think that this will be one of, if not last time Pulp tour - with the passing of their bassist, and jarvis getting older. I haven’t heard nor seen Yard Act perform, but you’ll be able to find clips of Pulp online.

The Game and The Drop by Sports team. Probably one of my favourite bands ever. They’ve got such a raucous energy, and they’re really charming. They remind me of the early britpop era, especially early Blur with a similar critiques wrapped up in catchy lyricism

The system actually works quite like a standard student learning to drive. They get their provisional, take a test and get their license (needed for motorway lessons etc). I don’t know if they’re trained to do tests, but any instructor worth their salt will have done plenty of mock tests with their students.

Perhaps do it with driving instructors being the first filter. Let them have an hour with a testee, and by the end if the instructor thinks they’re fit to drive, let then write a short report to the DVSA saying they’re fit to drive. If they don’t feel they’re fit to drive, submit them to the DVSA for a retest/refresher course. I think that’s the best way to do it, but unfortunately it’s not watertight.
