Why are people such c***s to cyclists?

I live in a rural area and I always say "Ah fuck here we go" whenever I come up on a cyclist. I mean I go above and beyond to get around them safely, I never chance it on corners, and if the road narrows and I'm not confident I can give them plenty of room I'll wait. But they are an annoyance because they are essentially a hazard due to their vulnerability and speed. Passing walkers or horse riders is much easier because they are so slow, and in both cases are likely to move off the road at dicey bits - but cyclists will happily hold up ten cars behind them, which is their right. In towns and cities they are like Japanese kamikaze pilots sometimes, going this way and that, not looking, expecting everyone else to read their minds. Car users do this too but they're not as vulnerable and due to their size, more predictable. I remember overtaking one coming into a small town, all geared up and charging at a steady 20mph, and about a mile down the road there was a bit of wait due to parked cars on one side. I had cars backing up behind me. The cars coming the other way clear, and as I move off, the cyclist I overtook earlier appears from literally nowhere, cutting across from the pavement on my left right in front of my car, to squeeze through the gap and off he went. I don't know the legality of that move and I don't care, if I hit him and killed him I might get punished but he's dead so what the fuck was the point of that. There are good ones of course, maybe even the majority, but its the bad ones that stick with you. tldr they're annoying on rural roads because of the increased dangers and problems with getting around them but I respect their right to use the road and do what I can to accommodate their inconvenient hobby.
