That’s a good call out but I’ve had mixed results with doing that as well unfortunately. I have a completely separate tester so I just do something else in the few minutes I’m waiting for it to process everything

Intune is not fit for purpose.

Taftimus@reddit

Intune is shit. Whenever I’m testing out configurations or policies, I’ve found that it’s easier to just reboot my machine so it has to do a full check in.

Lost my laptop. Backups saved the data, but not the sticker history.

Taftimus@reddit

I’m the opposite, I won’t put stickers on my personal stuff, but my work encourages us to ‘customize’ our laptops, so I have a ton of stickers from vendors and stuff all over it.

Because we’ve been abused and conditioned into thinking that our entire lives should be dedicated to making the corporate machine go round.

Americans, how do you feel about tourists speaking English while visiting U.S.?

Taftimus@reddit

English is the only language most Americans know, at least the tourists are making an effort to speak my language. I would never disparage them for that

Is buying condoms at the supermarket embarrassing or was my friend joking with me?

Posted by KindlyEffect4183@reddit | AskAnAmerican | View on Reddit | 412 comments

Taftimus@reddit

The first time I bought them at 18 it was a bit embarrassing since I hadn’t done it before and thought I would get in trouble for some reason. Since then, it’s no big deal.

How common is it to trace ancestry via blood?

Posted by SteamEigen@reddit | AskAnAmerican | View on Reddit | 87 comments

Taftimus@reddit

Because they all think we’re trying to claim citizenship of said country, when that’s not the case. My great grandparents moved to America from Italy and I still have family over there. Yes I’m an American, but my heritage is from Italy. Like I moved to France tomorrow and had a kid, they’re not suddenly French. That doesn’t even make sense.

I (wrongly) assumed that a field in AD wasn’t being used because our tenant wasn’t using it. So I populated it with the email addresses of our users. Little did I know that another one of our divisions was using that field for their identity management. Had to revert like 1500 user entries to rectify it.

When American sports teams move cities - do they keep their fan base in the old city?

Posted by Famous_Obligation959@reddit | AskAnAmerican | View on Reddit | 741 comments

Taftimus@reddit

As a fan of one of those teams I can answer this one. For some people they continue to be a fan after the team moves, however, other fans like myself see it as a slight against the area/state. I was a New Jersey Nets fan for much of my childhood, saw them go to the finals with those Kidd, Marbury, Jefferson, and Carter teams. They were so much fun, and I lived really close to their arena so I would go to games all the time. Then they upped and moved to Brooklyn where they were going to be the second team in the city and they lost a lot of the underdog mystic that they had in New Jersey. When they moved I stopped being a fan and started rooting for Knicks. Which was dreadful was the first 10 years or so, but it’s working out now.

Do you own an American flag? Do you ever display the American flag?

Posted by cobalt999@reddit | AskAnAmerican | View on Reddit | 745 comments

Taftimus@reddit

I’m 38 and no, I don’t own an American flag. Mainly because I have come to associate the American flag with those knuckle dragging MAGA fuck sticks. There is one event, and one event only, that will get me to put an American flag.

Has your city or a city you lived in been featured in a movie or a show? If yes, how did you feel?

Posted by Dry-Series-9829@reddit | AskAnAmerican | View on Reddit | 740 comments

Taftimus@reddit

Well the films were shot mostly in New Jersey (coincidentally in and around the town I’m from) but it’s set in Waterbury Connecticut. So either the other poster is from CT, or we’re neighbors.
