I saw them play it at a concert at an Indian casino about 20 years ago. Michael Stipe had a handheld tape player to do the Godzilla intro. Apparently we were lucky cause they don’t do it very often.

I’ve been to see him twice. First time he left after a few songs because it was too hot. Second time he saw a fan eating a hot dog smuggled in from one of those carts outside the stadium. He went on a “meat is murder” tirade and walked off. At least I won the bet with my friend that he wouldn’t do a whole set.

I love Depeche Mode. But my favorite thing about them is how they are compelled to sing “Just Can’t Get Enough” during every encore. Something about him singing “Just like a rainbow, you know you set me free” after two hours of songs about despair, melancholy, and alienation just sends me. It’s like if The Cure also wrote Baby Shark.
