I just can’t get enough isn’t a Depeche Mode song

I love the song, love the video, but always felt it doesn’t fit nicely in their catalog, outside of maybe alongside ’flexible’. It always feels uneven on any DM playlist I make.
I think if it more of an Erasure/Yaz Vince Clarke song.
How about you?
tanhauser_gates_@reddit
But it is...a Depeche Mode song.
ThisusernameThen@reddit
Its yazoo. Yaz.is a tall.blonde.
And vince clark.can donwhatever he likes.
krschob@reddit
Sort of, In the US the band was Yaz, something something trademarks I can't be bothered to look up right now. My Upstairs at Eric's definitely just said "Yaz" and I didn't know any different
ThisusernameThen@reddit
your personal opinions are being stated as hard truths - smells like.
cant be bothered
dont know any different
youl be saying alison moyet was in erasure in a dream you had once in your next post
SparksWood71@reddit
It takes two seconds to look this up.
We never called them Yazoo in the US
lufcpdx@reddit
You seem like you're fun at parties. It's literally the easiest to look up. "The British synth-pop duo Yazoo released music under the name Yaz in the US to avoid a trademark dispute."

Thanks friend.
Kimber80@reddit
Totally excellent song
Jensen1994@reddit
💯. The most skipped song in my DM playlist for many years.

I love going to DM concerts and sitting through 2 hours of brooding, atmospheric music just to get to the encore and have them sing about love and rainbows.
SometimesUnkind@reddit
Yup. They are great in concert. Period. HOWEVER!!! When they play Just Can’t Get Enough (and Enjoy The Silence) and the whole arena is bouncing up and down together like waves in a sea of human beings… that is a religious experience
heartwoodhoney@reddit
We always sung “just can’t get it up”
gringoloco01@reddit
Now this is gonna be stuck in my head
"And I just can't seem to get it up at all."
ROFLMAO

DM has a “Vince wrote most of the music” period, pretty much just Speak and Spell, and a “Martin wrote most of the music” period, everything after that.
The two guys have very different styles.
For example, Vince is well known for thinking having several monophonic melodies that are polyrhythmic and interplay with each other is the purest form of music, and that chords are “cheating”.

I just added 'Personal Jesus' to my Playlist. Didn't even flinch when it first came out. It now scratches a part of brain it didn't before.
dugs-special-mission@reddit
Well seeing that Vince Clarke wrote the song while he was a member of Depeche Mode you’d be correct.
That said it does fit in their catalog, their early catalog. I’m not sure what your point is. Every band evolves and moves in new directions when they stay together long enough. Their early catalog still sounds good to me and is equally what I think of when I hear their name in contrast to their newer work.
Redhosky@reddit
It sits perfectly in place along with Master & Servant.
Authoritaye@reddit
This was the inspiration for it.

It completely fits with the era. Bands can change a lot over a few years.
wheelbreak@reddit
It fits along perfectly with all the Clarke era.
NoAbbreviations290@reddit
Loved Yaz
punkdrummer22@reddit
One of the few songs I actually like by them
dogmatixx@reddit
Well, Vince Clarke wrote it, then left the band in part because of creative differences. So the rest of Depeche Mode went on to make more Depeche Modey music and Vince Clarke went on to make more Vince Clarkey music.
