When we do fleet refreshes, we set a few aside for spares and the rest we use as raffles. In our case, we award points to people who pass our KnowBe4 Phishing tests. We put a sign up sheet up on OneDrive and give each unit type a points value and people can enter for up to 3 (they can only win one) Everything from our current raffle pool are i7-1165G7/32Gb (Laptops) or i7-11800H/32-64gb (Laptop) , and i7-10700's with 64GB for Desktops

The user will not always let you know.... we did a fleet upgrade first thing in the year, this is how the user returned their old laptop... Which I'll add in was only 2.5 years old (and was its first deployment, after it had been in inventory for a year) Not one ticket (and yes some of the key caps are just sitting there and not attached), not one remark or comment. https://preview.redd.it/dkallfwm8q3h1.png?width=2856&format=png&auto=webp&s=de1bf344c05687c342ce3f13987a5bcf0718d69d and those naming conventions don't work over time and dont account for scenarios where you have users with the same first, or last (or some times yes even both) names Also no one using intune should be having to do hands on configuration for a device before it goes out to someone. Thats why we have provisioning profiles, naming templates and various other targeting methods. But even with that Intune is **NOT** an inventory system, it cannot track non-compute devices

Luckily we are all remote so there’s 1 printer and it’s xerox. We use ninja One for the heavier lifting, so I just have a script that calls their api, does some field translation and update devices in snipe it (check outs, check in is still manual), it includes scanning for the docks and monitor serial numbers Once the user logs in to their system for the first time (Intune/autopilot) an automation in ninja triggers the sync an after it detects the device and checks out out the monitors, dock, computer. User gets confirmation email, accepts they have the stuff

I’m just very much not a fan, we used them for ticketing and inventory (the agent is awful) and we attempted to do a AD automations (that service is also awful Java based garbage)… didn’t work and in the process of them troubleshooting it them selves ended up breaking our entire instance. And despite being month to month when I went to cancel they tried telling me I had to give 90 days notice.. after they ignored me asking for a credit for 1 technician license for 2 months after not being able to do anything for 3

We had to buy a few new machines (not servers), was about 1000$ per 32gb of ram… I forced the order in December in a way we didn’t have to pay for it until January On January 5th it went up to 1300$ per 32 gb (these each had 96-128 GB) the SSD’s also went up about 15% If I had of signed in handier l January the ram alone would of increased the order by 23000

RobinatorWpg@reddit

Yeah not like universal print isn’t already included in a majority of our licenses or anything Guess where just shills for fully utilizing features we already pay for. You also forgot the “cost” is Licensing + hardware + upkeep (Software assurance etc )+ staffing + DR (so now that one exchange seat goes from 3.44/mo to 13.25/mo vs the 10.50/mo it costs for exo stand alone) Is cloud still going to General be more expensive than the above? Sure Am I going to have to get raked over the coals because a SAN or Switch pair failed bringing down internal coms? No, because now is not on my network I’ve been doing this for 25 years, I’m smart enough to recognize what’s better to pay to not have something on my or my times plate. No amount of staff stops the inevitable or unexpected to happen

In terms of risk, it will just be the risk of having something running out of warranty running. The main thing is making sure it can run a supported OS (like Win 11, or if you have bought Win 10 extended updates) AS far as where to go/ budget you could check Dells Outlet/Refurb store [https://outlet.us.dell.com/GDOOnline/Online/InventorySearch?c=us&l=en&cs=28&s=dfb&buid=11&brandid=2802](https://outlet.us.dell.com/GDOOnline/Online/InventorySearch?c=us&l=en&cs=28&s=dfb&buid=11&brandid=2802) A decent unit would be something like this :, as it wil have enough memory to load semi-complex pages [https://outlet.us.dell.com/GDOOnline/Online/SecondaryInventorySearch?c=us&l=en&cs=28&s=dfb&buid=11&brandid=2802&pFilter=eyJQcm9kdWN0QnJhbmQiOlsiMTAwNzYiXX0%3D&id=28:28987:1\_4782130\_1\_3266109\_1\_5104156\_1\_4121105\_1\_2831072\_1\_2831072\_1\_3441105\_1\_2339019\_:1\_25759\_1\_3604107\_1\_2617057\_1\_2977140\_1\_2615063\_1\_4529150\_1\_439910\_1\_3504108\_1\_2460044\_:SA:610:859&productid=1\_25759\_1\_3604107\_1\_2617057\_1\_2977140\_1\_2615063\_1\_4529150\_1\_439910\_1\_3504108\_1\_2460044\_&productvariant=optiplex-7020-small-ff](https://outlet.us.dell.com/GDOOnline/Online/SecondaryInventorySearch?c=us&l=en&cs=28&s=dfb&buid=11&brandid=2802&pFilter=eyJQcm9kdWN0QnJhbmQiOlsiMTAwNzYiXX0%3D&id=28:28987:1_4782130_1_3266109_1_5104156_1_4121105_1_2831072_1_2831072_1_3441105_1_2339019_:1_25759_1_3604107_1_2617057_1_2977140_1_2615063_1_4529150_1_439910_1_3504108_1_2460044_:SA:610:859&productid=1_25759_1_3604107_1_2617057_1_2977140_1_2615063_1_4529150_1_439910_1_3504108_1_2460044_&productvariant=optiplex-7020-small-ff) Keep in mind, for like 190$ more you can get new with a warranty [https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/desktop-computers/dell-tower-desktop/spd/dell-ect1250-desktop](https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/desktop-computers/dell-tower-desktop/spd/dell-ect1250-desktop)

Recommendations for a Ticketing/PSA/ITSM with a *strong* Microsoft Teams integration, where techs and users could chat through a ticket, and those convos 100% sync to the ticket backend?

Posted by shmobodia@reddit | sysadmin | View on Reddit | 16 comments

We had a few things start to act weird, and than we tried using the AD integration automations. And during their troubleshooting they broke all of our automations for tickets They couldn’t get the ad workflows to work at all, it would throw random errors (wouldn’t accept managers to be passed through, or locations) Noting we aren’t a big company, but 3 months of it and them refusing to even give is a partial credit was enough

With KnowBe4 your likely using DMI (Direct message injection) meaning the message is being inserted directly into Exchange via M365 Service Now also has an M365 integration

If they are setup in M365 chances are other M365 costumers will also route directly to them internally That said, the only way to prevent them from bypassing your own priorities is to just setup a load balancer that will handle it behind the scenes
