I don’t think any job is AI proof but it feels like jobs where you need human judgement like pilot or doctor won’t be on the chopping block for a while Might eat my words later though

As an old instructor told me “do not cut the gnat’s ass on requirements” Way too many stories of people showing up to check rides and being 0.3 short of eligible because they miscounted time here and there If it says 10 hours do 11, if it says 5 do 6 etc so there is no question whatsoever you have met the requirements

School I work for has an agreement like that DPE has one month wait for a check ride max but he only gives the date if the CFI has already signed off and you better be **damn** sure your student will pass I’ve seen him give CFIs whose student failed hour long grillings over the phone or in person about how they failed their student

What am I doing wrong trying to get a CFI job?

KNFL (yeah) is a naval air station near me and if the base commander allows it we can land there in the 172s No shutting off the engine and getting out but they’re cool with touch/stop and gos with prior permission

Student here, just over 10 hours on C172s. Should we memorize the checklists ?

Okay when you’re solo you can just put it in the other seat, when you’re with an instructor ask them to hold it. Say you’re using all resources available lol It’s not even a joke, any good instructor will understand you want the checklist easily accessible in flight

I’m pretty new to 40 degree flap 172s so I wanted to ask, why do we retract them from 40-20 in a go around? It says to do that in the POH and every CFI I’ve asked says as well so I do it, but is there really next to no extra lift lost going from 40-20 as compared to 40-30? Is that extra 10 degrees from 30-40 really just all drag?

Gentle Reminder About Preflights…

Posted by Cherokee260@reddit | flying | View on Reddit | 164 comments

OnToNextStage@reddit

Something that drives me crazy used to happen at the school I learned to fly at CFIs would come down from a flight and tell me “don’t worry about the preflight I just flew it” At the time yeah I would skip the preflight, I didn’t know any better But now I think not only is that dangerous, it’s also teaching bad habits to your student that they don’t need to preflight a plane that has already been done

Not having a family and the responsibilities and stress that come with it Having a main job that pays well Both of those let me not stress too much about flight training, I never see it as some end of the world scenario if I busted a ride or something In no way am I saying be lackadaisical and not study, but don’t let flight training stress you out. Keeping it fun and enjoyable and *something I wanted to do* instead of dreaded like some other student pilots I met was what let me get through it relatively easily.
