My go to colognes in the 90s👃❤️

middle school: Adidas cologne, high school: CK1, after high school: clinique happy i got the clinique happy for men because my girlfriend at the time worked at the clinique booth in the mall. she got it for me; other girls always commented about liking it. i haven't worn cologne in at least 20 years, and I pretty much only wore cologne to mask the smell of all the weed and/or cigarettes.

“Bop Bags”🥊❤️I loved punching these 1980s— “anger management tools for tots”😀 (Garbage Pail Kids version was the best!!

Inside-out T-shirts were a thing in the mid-90s, right?

Posted by Quick_Hide@reddit | Xennials | View on Reddit | 16 comments

Filth_Pig_@reddit

i never wore my shirts inside out, but i did wear two shirts at a time. it was big in my area to wear a white t shirt under all other t shirts. Why? I have no idea, but I did it.

nWo or D-X?

What was instant birthday party cred when you were growing up? For me, in a small Midwest town, it was either Chuck E. Cheese, or a skating rink party. Went to so many parties at both!

Did you have a moped? I had an '87 Honda Spree called the "Crime Spree" since it was often used for buying weed and committing some low level crimes that I regret doing.

Ohhh, nice! There was a kid in my town that had a 125 Riva. He was a year older than me, and he had it when he was in middle school. He lived out in the country and rode it into town. I was jealous of that rig, but in my state at the time, anything over 50cc required a license, plates, and insurance, so my parent's would not let me get a larger one. I guess his parent's just didn't give a fuck.

From Wikipedia: "The term "moped" now only applies to low-power (often super-economy) vehicles, but pedals were fitted to some early motorcycles, such as the pictured 1912 Douglas." [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moped](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moped) State Farm Insurance's definition of a moped: # "Moped First named because it was a bicycle with a motor (literally a motorized pedal vehicle), today's mopeds have a step-through frame (with or without pedals), small wheels (typically 10 inches) and have a 50cc (cee-cee is moto-speak for cubic centimeter) or smaller motor. Mopeds generally top out at 28 mph (less with increased rider weight) and may achieve triple-digit gas mileage." https://www.statefarm.com/simple-insights/auto-and-vehicles/the-differences-between-moped-and-scooter#:\~:text=First%20named%20because%20it%20was,cubic%20centimeter)%20or%20smaller%20motor. Sorry, but yes, what I posted is also considered a moped.

There were a couple of burglaries. Those shouldn't have happened; it was stupid, and me and my friend that did them are lucky we didn't get shot (or at least caught).

Pic stolen from google image search, but mine was the same one that had the glove compartment. It was my neighbor's, but he sold it to me for $100 when he got his license in 1993. I was 13 and needed some wheels. Crazy to think that at 13, I was out on the roads with no license plate or insurance (not required where i was under 50cc). Most of my friends had no transportation, but we were starting to experiment with drugs, so the Crime Spree was how we were able to get to and from the few connections we had at the time to buy weed from, although the name really came from one specific day.

What bands/albums did you love in your younger years that, after revisiting them in your 40s, now seem kind of bad?

Posted by ibentmyworkie@reddit | Xennials | View on Reddit | 529 comments

Filth_Pig_@reddit

People will hate my answer, but I was a huge NIN fan, and I just personally haven't been able to enjoy most of the music in the last 15 or so years. It didn't age well for me. Other than that, I still love all the bands I did back in the day.

I started smoking weed again a few months ago. I quit smoking in 1998 and had not had a single hit in 26 years. So far, I'm having fun with it.

I got a paper route when I was like 12 so that I could make $$$ and buy a bunch of nice shoes. I had dreams of walls lined with the finest Bo Jackson and Jordan shoes. Good paper routes were hard to find. Bad routes were the only ones a kid my age could get. It had several trailer parks on the route. Those poor fuckers never paid their bills. I had to quit because I wasn't making jack shit on that paper route. I never even made enough to buy a single pair of shoes.

Not sure on the more run of the mill speakers, but I have a set of Kanto Ora desktop speakers. I also got one of their 8" subs, which rocks. They are a little pricey, but I spend so much time in my office, it's worth it.

1994 Might Have Been the Golden Age of Film... How Many of These Did You Get to See in a Theater?

Posted by King_of_Lunch223@reddit | Xennials | View on Reddit | 125 comments

Filth_Pig_@reddit

i took a film class in college. the teacher got Pulp Fiction. we watched it in class and discussed it. they also played it for free for the college students on the weekend in the theater, and I went and saw it on the big screen a second time. I had already seen it several times at that point (1998), so it was awesome to see it again when I did.

[Unpopular Opinion] 90s Nostalgia is a bit overrated

Filth_Pig_@reddit

The 90's were absolutely amazing for me, and it was a great time to be the age I was. Me and my friends partied like there was no fucking tomorrow, and it was cheap as fuck to do that back then! We all had shitty retail and entry level jobs, but we could afford apartments, street bikes, fairly nice cars, and to do drugs and go to bars about five nights a week. I loved the 90's.

The other day I saw a "What happened to the Sneaker Pimps?" video on Youtube. I watched it and then listened to their Becoming X album. I hadn't heard it since probably 2000 or so. It sounded awesome. I have a pretty nice stereo in my office, and I was really jamming to it.

Ministry "Stigmata"(1988) vs. Phil Collins "Don't Lose My Number"(1985) Maybe it was a preprogrammed rhythm that came with the drum machine or something because I never heard anything about Phil suing Al

I frequently like to get fucked up and listen to Ministry. I've been doing this for well over 20 years. At no point have I ever been fucked up enough to have heard a similarity between the two songs mentioned by the OP.

Payback and Blade were two of my favorite movies in my later teen years. I always thought Kris was awesome in both movies. I was familiar with his music, but his acting really won me over as a fan. RIP. We also grew up in such an awesome time to see such great crossover talents going from sports/music/comedy into acting and just killing it.

Weirdest Movie. Like wtf👎 😐 Greatest Soundtrack tho ! 👍🫠

Lost Highway, Demon Knight, and Spawn were the three soundtracks that all of my friends would listen to. I loved all three soundtracks, but all three movies were pretty crappy.

Who rocked the ROOS?!

Posted by Dovetrail@reddit | Xennials | View on Reddit | 37 comments

Filth_Pig_@reddit

I (boy) had a friend (girl) that had these style of Roos as a kid. I remember her being so proud of them and the little velcro pocket. I thought it was totally stupid, but didn't say anything to her, because she was cute. I remember acting like it was so cool that she could fit a nickel, two dimes, and three pennies in there. Literally the most useless form of storage I've still ever seen.

Was the late 90s a peak in bar irresponsibility?

Posted by Filth_Pig_@reddit | Xennials | View on Reddit | 264 comments

Filth_Pig_@reddit (OP)

I'm talking about pitchers that were under a couple dollars being served multiple pitchers at a time to individuals.    While I can still go buy a pitcher of beer, I can't buy them for $2.50 and slam several by myself without nobody behind the bar batting an eye.

What are the best/worst live concerts you have seen?

Posted by MeeranQureshi@reddit | Xennials | View on Reddit | 319 comments

Filth_Pig_@reddit

Best was Marilyn Manson in 1997.  The crowd was crazy; show was just awesome.  Fun night, I was on all the drugs, so that may make my memory of it better than it actually was.   No bad concerts really, I've always had fun, even if it was a band I didn't really care to see.

I can remember going to "Thirsty Thursday" around '99 and the bar pouring two of these for $5. It was not uncommon for there to be bars/events pouring pitchers for a few bucks and people walking around drinking out of a pitcher while holding about a dozen of these empty pitchers stacked in their other hand.
