PSA: Cantilever mounts are designed specifically to solve a problem on ARs and are not the best option for lever actions or bolt actions

do cantilever mounts have some difference of angle with the bore? seems like they are valuable for eye relief depending on the scope. but with known dope, why does this matter? please educate me.

just about every thing in this photo is bottom-of-the-barrel tier gear. and im not trying to shit on anyone who wants to protect themself on a budget. but seeing this much effort put into a highpoint is like...well. imagine seeing a post of a nissan altima with a missing front bumper, glued-on cosmetic hood scoop, and wing drilled onto the trunk. And OP asking "where can i get a custom-made car cover for this."

9mm+P or .357mag for Bighorn Mountain hunting/hiking?

I love the variety of opinions here. I read a story on a forum, about a guy who had an encounter with a charging bear. I believe he took a glock 20 or whatever the 10mm is. The main takeaway for me is that he trained a ton with it just to be prepared for this exact event. think he had a tactical chest rig that you rip open and the gun is right there, so technically it's concealed, but available regardless of if you're sitting or standing or crouched in the woods or whatever. i think it was muscle memory that saved his life more than the caliber, as he claimed he was able to get several shots off during the unexpected and unforeseen charge out of the brush. think he said he got six or seven shots off. enough that the bear kinda lost it's will to attack and ran past him and his buddy back into the woods where they later found it and called in the rangers to report the killing. regardless of what you choose, it seems like drawing and getting shots on target very fast is more important than the caliber as long as it isn't something like 22lr. though ill bet if you had a 10-22 and were able to unload about five rounds into a bears face it would probably change it mind about you very fast.

You almost never see proper gun safety in anime, this brought a tear to my eye!!! (sauce is "saving 80000 gold in another world")

this post is an indictment of anime at large when OP has to respond to more than one comment with "this one actually ISN'T sexualized," which kind of acknowledges the reality. there is plenty of cool ass anime. but my default feeling of people that enjoy it is immediate suspicion. nice to see the legacy of jeff cooper's influence in any media about firearms tho.

Is this a replica or real?

What’s the best home defense setup for living in an RV?

Posted by ZealousidealSeat2689@reddit | Firearms | View on Reddit | 39 comments

Cuddlefosh@reddit

started reading this comment and wanting to downvote, thinking "not everyone can afford home security" and then came around to "actually, i'll bet you can probably get some inexpensive lights and noisemaking deterrents." sadoproject is right. most criminals are opportunists, and i doubt they're trying to do a home invasion on an occupied RV unless there's an overwhelming reason for them to do so. if there is a major incentive for people to come into your RV, well. you're in some sort of plot like "No Country for Old Men." No point in wishing you good luck. But if you're in an area with less than average crime statistics, and no skeletons in your closet, a good lock on your door and some app based light and noise deterrents may be less hassle than a fire arm and the potential risks of escalating a highly chaotic situation.

unless you're law enforcement or military, there is zero chance you would be able to draw a gun that you just bought that day, negotiate whatever safeties you just learned about, and get good effect on target in a very fast, very stressful situation. any argument to the contrary is you admitting that you're stupid.

i am not missing the point at all. what you said is 100% the point of the post. i am simply saying it is a stupid argument against waiting period laws. the counter point that i am trying to make is that it is foolish to assume that someone who buys a gun immediately understands how to use it effectively and had the situational awareness to do so. everyone in the sub, based on my experience over the past 24 hours, seems to think that simply owning a gun is like wearing a condom on your dick or having an antivirus on your computer. i am not anti 2A at all. i just hate stupid people.

you know what there isn't any evidence of? the number of people who didn't die because a person wasn't able to go out and but a gun in 30 minutes in states where there's a waiting period. because there can't be any evidence of it.

as a gun enjoyer, i am extra sensitive to weak-ass pro 2A arguments. this is a tragic story but current gun laws would have had an almost negligible effect on the outcome. 95% of gun owners think they're ready for a kinetic situation and they are delusional. more relaxed gun laws may have even made it easier for the ex to get a gun legally. there are better arguments for 2A. this is weak, heart-strings engagement bait at best for the intellectually lazy.

i dont disagree with the general thrust of this sub but if she had a gun, and never trained with it or never anticipated the assault, she might have been disarmed and murdered with it. its silly to get all ideological about rights because of one very, very specific story. this is a stupid example of "don't tread on me" ideology. ask yourself if you, at night, at your regular job, are tactically ready enough to engage someone with a weapon, assuming they're ambushing you. give your balls a tug before you try and make this an example for why you need 2A.

Was watching Seal Team S3 and I got curious about this gun, looks like and AK variant, but the mag is huge, do you guys know which gun is this>

The common refrain here is that the engineers are told to make sure the car lasts past it warranty period, not that it lasts 300,000 miles. Pretty sure manufacturers make more money selling cars than fixing them.

another post recently was talking about how some liberals are finally starting to understand the importance of gun ownership. i didn't say anything because this sub tends to skew right and most conservatives don't even understand the difference between liberals and leftists. most leftists understand the importance of firearms. moat liberals are kinda stupid. but i do find it amusing that some of the first comments are like "nah this can't be real." this shit is not normal.

i, as someone who was once a novice firearms enthusiast, had a p365 which had failure to return to battery issues when firing. through research i learned it was a mixed combo of limp-wristing the gun and an overly stout extractor spring that was putting enough radial pressure on the new round that it struggled to overcome the friction of chambering. i can understand how someone would feel confused and concerned by a product not operating as expected. i even had a gen 5 glock 19 that did this before it was thoroughly broken in and cleaned, and they're supposed to be unquestionably reliable out of the box. so chill out before you start downvoting people for wanting to learn. seriously who is trolling for downvotes on this stupid website.
