Holster recommendations

I’m having an issue with finding a kydex holster for my c9. I have a cronhawk laser/light combo mounted and every brand I try cannot fit inside so I have to return them.
Special ordered a vedder for almost 80$ and it still doesn’t fit.
Please help with recommendations yall. Tyia.

Depends on what you're looking for! Venandi Holsters makes custom holsters mostly for hunters looking to have a chest holster for self defense when hunting. It would likely fit because it's custom but it carries a premium. They also take alternative currency! I bought a bunch of stuff from them using Goldbacks. (spendable gold money)

Rambler990@reddit
I'm frankly not sure if you're memeing, but please do not carry without a holster. I was joking about a zap carry
TOKING-TONZ@reddit
Rounds go through holsters too ya know , they don't eliminate the chance of accidental discharge of the weapon , I've also seen holsters cause a higher problem for accidental discharge as well , to each their own, I say carry however your most comfortable , but mostly be familiar with your carry weapon and always be conscious of it .
Rambler990@reddit
At no point did I suggest that a holster is bulletproof. I’d be interested to see what holster you’ve seen cause an ND. I cannot wrap my head around an argument that a loose gun with an exposed trigger floating around in a pocket is safer than even a cheap Velcro holster.
When you’re carrying, you are responsible for everything that gun does and how it affects those around you. You being comfy with it spinning around in your hoodie pouch or falling out of your pant leg because it slipped your waistband is irresponsible and negligent.
TOKING-TONZ@reddit
Never said they cause the ND , but as far as reaching for firearm in a holster can also cause an ND ( but your going to try and argue that point I bet ) and also sounds to me like you need to do some research as to how an ND happens with a holster instead of being so high and mighty my friend , and to touch base on your supposed ways of carrying in a hoodie would make you a fucking idiot and as far as cheddar bobbing it around also would make you an idiot , so going further there are more ways to carry without your oh so needed holster in your opinion , by the way did you eat paint chips as a kid or something ? Moving forward I suggest you look into other ways of carrying before you decide again on assuming your all knowing ok Mr . Perfect ? Have a good day learning.
Rambler990@reddit

If you dont mind the up front cost of the tools/material, you can make a custom leather holster pretty easily. I'm making one in my spare time, and it's not that bad (still kinda rough looks-wise, but everyone has to start somewhere). Heres the video I used as reference, but Im just gonna stitch a single loop on the back to put a belt through rather than deal with snaps.

So, the technical reason the slide on a hi-point is so big, ugly, and clunky is that they are direct blow back operated, and you need the mass of the bolt/slide to match the recoil generated by the round. This is why DBB is generally reserved for .32 calibre and smaller, the more powerful cartridges require more mass in the slide.
Hi-point uses cheap cast pot-metal for their slides to reduce costs as much as possible. If the slide was made of a denser material, it could be smaller and sleeker.
There is a dark, perverse part of me that, given unlimited funds, would buy a hi-point and get a custom slide done in steel with something like tungsten or osmium inserts to keep the mass while reducing the slide volume. Taking such a monstrosity to the range would be like IRL shitposting.
FrankTheTnkk@reddit
I've always listened to the camp that defends Hi point. I understand that you should be able to own a firearm that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. But then I look and see that even the information on it was molded/etched poorly, and I can't defend it🤣
one_who_reads@reddit
Hi-point occupies an interesting niche in the gun industry. They are at the intersection of inexpensive and reliability. You may be able to find less expensive firearms, but you shouldn't expect anything near the same price point to reliably go bang when you pull the trigger. The design simplicity also makes them extremely rugged, they regularly survive torture tests that would make anything else explode. I remember a video where they hammered a hardened steel bolt into the muzzle and remotely fired the gun. The barrel bulged, but once they sanded down the bulge so it could clear the slide, the gun still functioned.
You can also find guns that are more reliable out of the box. Hi-points sometimes have feeding issues, corrected by slight modification to the feed ramp and magazine.
The trade off for having a gun that reliably goes bang for msrp of about 100$ is they are ugly as sin, and have poor ergonomics. This makes them perfect for people to make fun of. Because anything worse has had the manufacturer go out of business.
shit_poster9000@reddit
If my math and google search findings are correct… you absolutely could make a monolithic tungsten slide instead…
Quick google search places a hi point’s slide weight at about 1.25 pounds. That amount in just tungsten would have an approximate volume of about 1.79 cubic inches. For reference, a stripped Glock 19 gen 4 slide is roughly 1.3 cubic inches by volume.
Unfortunately, I don’t have the resources
one_who_reads@reddit
You see, if I start doing actual calculations and start going down the rabbit hole on this, I'll have to buy a hi-point and pay a machinist/gunsmith to actually build the thing. And I absolutely cannot afford that at this time. Which is why I prefaced the whole thing with the bit about "if I had unlimited funds".
Remarkable-Host405@reddit
Can't you just fuck with the recoil spring?
one_who_reads@reddit
No, it's actually inertia based. More mass means it takes more time for the same amount of energy to accelerate the mass. This allows the gun time for the chamber pressure to drop to safe levels before the chamber opens. 1911's, Glocks, Berettas, basically all modern pistols chambered in anything more powerful than .380auto have some kind of mechanical system that lets the barrel remain mated to the breech face for a split second as the slide recoils. When you see someone talking about "lockup", they are referring to how the breech face is locked to the barrel until the slide moves back a bit. Most modern pistols use the Browning tilting barrel method, which has the top of the barrel lock into the underside of the top of the slide, until the barrel tilts partway through the recoil stroke, disengaging the locking lugs. I have also seen guns that use a rotating barrel lockup, the IWI Desert Eagle uses a rotating bolt lockup, and I've heard of roller delayed and gas delayed systems. Direct blow back does not use any kind of locking system, just the mass of the bolt taking a bit of extra time to start moving.
ERGardenGuy@reddit
I agree with your analysis and I endorse you spending your money on such an endeavor. Post results when the time comes.
one_who_reads@reddit

I catch heat att for having it. Never understood it. I’m in a suburb outside Detroit and I know several people friends of mine who have them.
I don’t know if it’s a being rich thing looking down on others and I don’t care it is what it is
frydchickpea@reddit
Bro you don’t have to be rich to own a Glock or Sig, you just have to have some self respect.
GOOLGRL@reddit
My next handgun purchase is gonna be another Hi Point. I can afford a glock and yet I'd prefer to have the Hi Point + a box of ammo. If I wanted a boring ass G17 or another G19 in my collection then those frames are too ez to come by. I'll even compete with Hi Points at some point. As long as you clean n lube your weapon, take it to the range, and get groups and splits then no one can say shit that really matters. Fuck the haters.
Early-Series-2055@reddit
If it goes bang reliably I love it. If I could get them delivered without a processing fee I’d own several.
If you can’t find one you can always make one yourself. There’s a Kydex subreddit that can get you started.

Cuddlefosh@reddit
just about every thing in this photo is bottom-of-the-barrel tier gear. and im not trying to shit on anyone who wants to protect themself on a budget. but seeing this much effort put into a highpoint is like...well. imagine seeing a post of a nissan altima with a missing front bumper, glued-on cosmetic hood scoop, and wing drilled onto the trunk. And OP asking "where can i get a custom-made car cover for this."
yo_boy_dg@reddit
I think this may have been the best possible explanation I could’ve received with the mental image of the Frankenstein Altima😂 I’ve not heard of Hi-Point so I had no idea what I was even looking at
DumTheGreatish@reddit
The only weapon Hi-Point ever made that felt "okay" were the pistol caliber carbines, especially 10mm because so few people made them. Now there are better options. Hi-Point is the kind of gun you leave in your car seat so a thief will think they shouldn't waste their time with your car.
All Hi-Points are so damn heavy that their true consistent lethality is as a bludgeoning weapon. I'd rather have a Taurus or a Kel-tec, and neither of those are my top 5 choices for a carry.
NextEstimate1325@reddit
The C9 in of itself isn't bad. Not great. Horrible ergonomics. Questionable accuracy. But. It generally shoots when you pull the trigger. So its got that going for it.
Now that being said; with all the Chinesium hanging off of it; OP could have got something like a RXM or SD9VE 2.0

A brown paper bag from the nearest package store will be a fine stand-in until you can get a custom kydex rig made. Im not aware of anyone who makes holsters specifically for Hi Points, let alone with an optic and a light.
GOOLGRL@reddit
Hi Points excel in many torture tests on youtube and they are very reliable vs really gucci handguns out there. I personally own a hi point carbine. I enjoy shooting it more than other PCC's. It's easy to be a hater til someone shoots one and discovers the joy in the simplicity and brute force of the engineering. The loose tolerances and clunkiness gives me the same happy brain juice as shooting an AK.
That being said I don't know any good holster recs including a light for the C9; honestly it seems like a job for a custom kydex company unless you can find one that just fits over your light.
oh_three_dum_dum@reddit
Nah, they’re fairly reliable, but that’s about the only thing they have going for them. They’re ergonomically fucked, have no grip texture to speak of, shooting them feels like you’re firing some kind of brick-made maraca, and field stripping is a pain in the ass that requires a tool.
JediTerrorist@reddit
Bro you just need a hoodie. You’re robbing gas stations duh….🙄
Sad-Tie-Fighter76@reddit
I mean, you might be stuck either with getting an expensive, custom kydex holster or just looking online for generic leather or nylon holsters. While I know those aren't the optimum choice for carry, the truth is the C9 isn't really a popular carry gun for people who want to properly carry concealed. Ironically, my state won't even let you buy the dang things, so I have a soft spot for hi-points... but you might consider upgrading your carry piece.

My local gun shop/range will custom form a Kydex holster for $40 and it takes about 20 minutes. Check if one in your area offers this. I’ve seen tables at gun shows offering it as well.
